Outstanding photos! :D I'd love to do this. How long was your trip? Business or pleasure? What is that in post #43, looks like some kind of bromiliad.

The thing in post #43 is a Rafflesia flower -- the largest flower in the world!

You are lucky to have seen one in bloom. Those are parasitic and live in the roots of certain trees-- they only show up when the flower and the bloom doesn't last long.

Thank you all for the kind words. My trip began in March. I spent almost 2 months in Bali then travelled to Malaysia,Thailand,Sumatra and Sarawak for about 2 and a half months and back to Bali for almost 3 weeks. The scenery was excellant, the people were nice and the food was great. I am already planning a next time.

Fantastic photos. I don't want it to end!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!
