Hey ya'll,  Here's a shot of what they had labled as V. soledad @ the Del Mar Fair.  Isn't this just V. arecina?  Or has Rancho Soledad done something to this palm to make it different?  Gary?

Hey Matt,

I've seen the same thing at H.D. as well as "Chamaedorea Soledad". With all due respect to the grower, for the most part I'd like to see names used that recognized by all. If it's a hybrid, you can say that as well & there's a mechanism for that. My guess on this one is Veitchia arecina. Sez me anyway...

   Well, this just looks like another case of ME,ME,ME and ME ! What needs to be done, is ask Jerry Hunter or whoever is putting these names on palms, what exactly is the history, or how they came about it. Both of these genus of palms hybridize within themselves. So if they crossed two Veitchias, thats all it is, a cross. To put your name on it, come on.

Come on now Jeff, Get with the program thats how most of the plants and palms get there name`s to begin with
