Bahia,

Thanks for the info. I do have Agapanthus that bloom every year. Totally neglect them. And they are in pots.

I have a growing succulennt area that gets no water - I took out the sprinkler head - and have some things on mounds and some in pots. So far, so good. I am using a mix made of sand and pebbles with a little bit of organic matter. If I can find any at the big box stores I will try a couple.

If I was growing them in a hot humid location, I'd plant them in fullsun, in sand, with as much air movement as possible, and in summer wouldn't irrigate them at all. Stay away from fertiliser with anything more than 3% phosphorus, and I'd probably give them a spell of fungicide every now and again. It would be a tough grow in Florida, as the climate here has coolish summer nights compared to Miami for example. They get inkspot disease in a humid summer even here and this is their native habitat.
