sabal mexicana.

Picture160.jpg

chamearops mis-labeled as "cryosophilia."

Picture161.jpg

Picture162.jpg

another palm labeled as howea.

MORE FOTOS PLEASE !

WE ARE VERY STUPID IN OUR COUNTRY ABOUT PLANTS, PALMS, AND THE NAMES. I TRY TO CHANGE THIS WHEN I TALK WITH OTHER MEXICANS WHO LIKES PALMS.

HOWEA IN ACAPULCO ??? IN THE BOTANIC GARDEN OF THIS CITY ??? THIS NAME FOR DIFERENT PALMS ???

THIS TO ME IS NOT SOME SURPRISE.

NOBODY KNOWS THE SCIENTIFIC NAMES AND EVERY MEXICAN CITY AND STATE HAS SOME DIFFERENT NAME FOR A SAME PALM.

Good work, thanks dewd, I've got nothing much to say, just been listening to some good blues music, thought I'd help Paul with his stats, cause I heard he was a stats man.

This thread needs some a lot of E chord riffs...

one of the tallest papaya trees i've ever met.

Wow, one minute I'm eating with strangers and the next I've been transported to a pretty cool palm collection. Enjoying the ride so far, and was needing the injection of palms in a big way. I just want a picture of your room mate snoring to complete the "dewd experience".

matt i did not say s.minor,i said s.mexicana as it was labeled, which i agree with due to the fact that it has none of the

glaucousness on the undersides of the leaves that is associated with s.mauritiiformis & s.yapa.

every sabal you you see now is a mauritiiformis or yapa, you are as bad as me with every livistona being rotundifolia!

OK, sorry S. mexicana, not minor. But the point is that I still think it's S. yapa or mauritiaformis. Look at the leaves with your ojos.

Kookaburra? In Mexico? I love looking at them... we have a resident kookaburra in our property. He loves hanging around our shadehouse or hills hoist.

Reagrds, Ari :)

Is it just me or do those Kookaburras in that small cage look wrong to you ? Maybe no different to other birds in a cage, I guess I'm not used to seeing Kookaburras in a cage.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,

Merry, merry king of the bush is he.

Laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra.

Gay your life must be.

I still remember that song from 3rd grade.

Dewd, nice pictorial of a cruise you have there! I miss going on them, it has been about 5 years for me. That chick doing the required "put your lifevest on, we're going down!" was hot! You should have gotten snarky with her.

Matty is right, that is a S. yapa, although I didn't know they were on the westside of MX (represent).

I second Matt's vote...that is not S. mexicana. I agree it's either mauritiiformis or yapa. Those leaves are instantly recognizable as being one of those two.
