part XXIV:manzanillo

Picture288.jpg

the next day i awoke kinda late, not sure why :mrlooney:

manzanillo looked kinda industrial & depressing from the ship.

Picture289.jpg

my balinese buddy from the ship, agung(thats him in the above pic),told me the night before that i was invited to have lunch ashore with the crew members.we took a cab from the ship.

they always do this once every trip.they find a small restaurant right on the beach & rent the kitchen, then go to the market & buy their own

food to cook.and of course there was beer.

Picture290.jpg

heres agung in the kitchen doing some prep while others are at the market.

Picture292.jpg

heres sadia,a bartender on the ship, prepping.

Paul, did you ever consider going a gig on a cruise liner? You could have a great set list of maritime-themed songs; Smoke On The Water, Yellow Submarine, etc.

i dunno if i could, john.music is fun & creative for me now.when you gotta do it every nite for 3 or 4 hrs it becomes a dreaded 4 letter word:

back onboard.

speaking of gigs on a cruise liner there was a great band on the ship playing at the deck party that nite.

lotsa "classic rock," stuff everyone knows like "mustang sally,"etc.

Picture316.jpg

they were quite good.the drummer was amazing--she could sing her butt off while playing as hard as she could--she was awesome!

Picture317.jpg

all good players, real solid, nothin' too fancy.

Picture320.jpg

looks like they enjoyed it,too!

this cougar was famous ship-wide.the 1st nite of the cruise while standing in line next to me for the dining room she was

so drunk she kept trying to lean on me.she pointed to a big bruise on her arm & said she had broken it falling down.

a few days later i met some random people at breakfast who asked if i'd seen the lady who was always drunk & broke her arm.

as i watched the band she tried to get all sexy when i pointed the camera in her direction.

Picture323.jpg

the drummer-chick had alotta personality for someone who was only 5 feet tall.

not that theres anything wrong with that.

Picture325.jpg

gotta give the bass player some respect.

That cougar pic is great. It seems like the cougars really like to hang out at Temecula wineries, which we always joke about when we go wine tasting. But recently they opened up a winery actually called Cougar. Subtle.

Far be it for me not to add a comment on that mountin' lion as well. Did she ever let go of that bourbon ?

further cougar comment deleted by the WALMOD.

And as for bass players, I give all bass players respect. The drummer lady, what can I say, that looks like a great band to see live, I bet you were tempted to join for a song or two senor dewd, areeba areeba, underlay underlay, ah whatever...

Thanks for taking us on this voyage. Would you recommend it ?, and perhaps go again, maybe next time, get on the singles floater, now that would be a photogenic experience.

That's a stark contrast between palm tree laden Mexico and bleak San Diego, still, there's no place like home.

Thanks again Paul, I hope you got well quicklyish.
