PalmGuyWC 1,486 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 From high 70's in Walnut Creek yesterday to 54F today and hardly any rain from the band of clouds that just passed through. Dick
PalmGuyWC 1,486 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 I recieved more rain than I expected from the low that has gone inland north of me. It came through with about 3 or 4 different waves and a thunder storm moved past me with a few rumbles of thunder. It's still sprinkling here this morning and I expect I got a little over 1/2 inch of rain. Temp. is 50F at 8 AM. I haven't heard thunder here in a couple of years. BS Man about Palms 2,501 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Coastal Oceanside has been 46-52 for the last few days, a week ago it was around 60F overnight and 85+ during the day. Burned some stuff!
osideterry 96 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 Last week was an abberation. Right now are normal. Highs 60-70F, lows 50-60F well into June. In it's own way May-June is our worst weather - while everyone else in the country is heating up, we are stuck in marine-layer limbo until July. In it's own way May-June is our worst weather - while everyone else in the country is heating up, we are stuck in marine-layer limbo until July. Those are coastline temps, Terry & why beach city gardens are slower to regain growth. Move 10 miles inland & you gain 10 degrees warmth though minimum temps are about the same if not a little cooler inland. March thru May average in the 70's & jump into the 80's by June. Low 50's this morning.
epicure3 95 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 Also intersting to note that low temps drop a lot slower in the night, for me any anyways. At 11PM last night, temp was 54F. When I woke up this morning, temp had dropped to 52F. Same with the previous few nights. Overall, this is not a great time of year though I am seeing some new growth showing up. I'm sorta embarrassed to admit that I have a small monitor on my bedstand\ time & temp 24/7 This week will be quite unlike last week for several more days while a trough sits over the West. Cooler than I would prefer but better for sunburn palms, right?
osideterry 96 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) My temps are definitely warmer than right on the coast, so I can't complain. The last few years the May Grey/June Gloom hasn't been that bad. I remember back between 2000-2003 it was cold and cloudy most of the time... those days where it's 110F in Palm Springs and 60F in Carlsbad. We've also had 3 Summers in a row with increased heat and humidity. Hoping we have a fourth. Are these things cyclical like El Nino/La Nina? John Case 173 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 It is 48f right now with a breezy 67f for today, definitely lower than normal. Most of the week looks to be the same. Everything has slowed.
PalmGuyWC 1,486 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 After last week with highs in the 90's and lows above 50F, the weather has taken a downturn. 44F was my low this morning and it's 65F at 1 PM and the wind is gusting up to 40 MPH. It feels COLD! Sometimes I think the only difference between winter and spring in N. Calif. is the days are longer in the spring. Dick
MattyB 2,160 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 Stop asking Jeff! It's always cold compared to you! You win already! How's your Rhopalostylis doing by the way? Doh!
