I was really hoping for a Voanioala.  I have a palm that is identical to Jawad's.  It is slooooow.  Got it from Darian's place.  In fact, I think you and Len tried to ID it the day I got it.  The thinking was a Syagrus or Pritchardia.

But we were all scratching our heads.  So when Jawad raised Voanioala as a possibility, naturally I got STOKED!  Still struggling with the Syagrus or Pritchardia thought as this thing hasn't moved a muscle since the first Darian sale a few months ago.

I am pretty sure it is a Syagrus. No clue which one. This is what most guesses turn out when I show people, the same plant Adam.

Thanks for weighing in Len.  The excitement was fun while it lasted.  See you next week at The Huntington.

I meant to say this was a Voanioala x Syagrus hybrid. hahahah jk

I wish I would have kept better labels on my palms.  I did have one of these at some point.  It may still be in my garden somewhere, need to look around better.  I agree, it clearly looks like some sort of Syagrus.  It has been such a slow grower It helped me to believe it was possibly Voanioala.

Is it possibly a Pritchardia?

it must be the Greta Garbo palm, "I vant to be let alone!" I'm doing nothing special for it at all, as an absentee grower.

Greta Garbo's alone in a close approximation of her habitat!

Where she vants to be . . . .
