Stuff is looking good Kostas!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

"The great workman of nature is time."   ,  "Genius is nothing but a great aptitude for patience."

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Hi Kosta,

you are right. The designing of the TV-gardeners is always somekind of technical and artificial. I think your garden will be (and already is) looking far more natural! When your plants will be higher and larger, you'll have the perfect tropical feeling in your garden

Waiting for the next update :winkie:

Thank you very much all of you for your replies!

Thanks Bill! smilie.gif Its great to hear that from you!

Hello Alexandersmilie.gif

Yeap, lots of new growth here but some scorch as well from the blazing sun and high heat. Hopefully when my shade trees and palms grow some, there will only be growth in the summer, without the scorch!

Hi Janni!smilie.gif

I am really looking forward to that!!!! Some palms have already started looking pretty impressing and i love it!drool.gif

Things have done well and some palms grew a lot the past 2 months! Some very few of them even put on their first rings of TRUNK! :yay:drool.gifSo here we go with the update!

I went to Pyrgos 2 times the past months, first in mid July and then again last week. As mid July's photos cover most of the garden while the ones of August are only of a few select plants due to taking them in a hurry,i will post both for you to enjoysmilie.gif

Here are the photos i took on July 20th!

Newly planted, acclimating Howea fosteriana. It suffered from a clogged dripper and was quite drought stressed as you can see from the leafs bent where they meet their petioles but should recover well as the roots are fine and the leafs were still saveable, although in pretty bad condition!

Matteuccia struthiopteris. This fern had never looked like something for me as it was always getting severely munched on by something. This year however has been healthier than ever and starting to look nice! I hope it continues to be successful and grows to be a nice, biggish fern!smilie.gif

Female Cycas revoluta with new flush of leafs! The new leafs probably got damaged from the hail it poured while it was flushing or it may be due to the root rot it had last year. The problem seems to be fixed and new roots should establish well the cycad again soonsmilie.gif

Close up of its newest opening leaf. It has been putting out deformed leafs for a year or more now but my addition of Boron containing, organic fertilizer has been slowly fixing the problem. The previous leaf was mostly good and normal but this latest one seems that it died from the point you see and up. I found the other half still folded and inside the leaf base of the previous leaf...
