Pohonkelapa:

Great photos and commentary! I have a feeling it would be loads of fun to go to the S.D. Zoo with you guys.

I belong to the Zoological Society and can go anytime...message me if you would like to invite another palm-person

to go with you guys on your next trip.

Andy have you ever hung out with Paul, Bob and Matt? It really is not "loads of fun". In fact it is painful. Kind of like watching an old Vietnam war movie and saying I bet it was cool to do what those guys are doing. The movie is much better then the actual event.

I mean serious, look at these guys:

Andy - If you are willing to act as a decoy and distract park employees while they collect seeds, I'm sure they would consider bringing you along. Keep in mind you would also be fresh meat for them to abuse in the similar future thread. Freed from making fun of each other, you would bear the brunt of their snarkiness. You have to ask yourself, "is it really worth it?"

i have given you plenty of chances to improve your tenuous grasp on spelling & grammer, len,so from now i'll be calling you out

when you fail(which i'm sure you will).i know it will be a big job,but i'm willing to make the sacrifice to point out your many flaws--

Paul, that is too funny. You have lower cap "i"s, mispelled "grammer", and over use of commas. But thanks for looking out for me.

Len and Osideterry:

I don't think it would be as bad as you both say, however, I wouldn't mind enduring some abuse the first time around. :)

I think maybe I can learn some new things about palms from these gentlemen, even though I originally joined The International

Palm Society in October of 1984. Also, maybe they can show me some new palm locations at the S. D. Zoo and vice-versa.

Never could figure out how to make that little chop mark on a keyboard. Must be because I don't use one to make a living.

Bill - When you've had to flow text in Spanish, German, etc, you get use to it. I only know how to make them on Mac keyboards. Probably no help on a PC.

MattyB, you are so busted! What did I read on the yellowing Clusia rosea leaf by the gorillas yesterday? "Matt (heart) Jen, 8-24-08"

What are you guys talking about? That's juvenille, even for me. Plus I wouldn't hurt a plant like that.

Actually no. Just the American spelling verses English. Like Color / Colour.

It would actually be nicer had MattB not used a pocket knife to carve ""Matt (heart) Jen, 8-24-08" " in the trunk.

Cool! A large Veitchia(with trunk!) in So. Cal.
