I think of 3 things when I think of Bali, 2 aren't worth mentioning for an aussie and one is good and that's FM Phonokelapa and his Bali passion.

Great pix Paul, am enjoying it very muchly, that Pritchardia must have a sordid tale to tell. You might consider popping down to Darwin next time for a weekend visit, maybe too costly I guess.

Nah... it is only A$300 return to Bali from Darwin... if you can catch the special!!! A bit different to Bali, but worth a visit...

Regards, Ari :)

my balinese friend wayan was busy the 1st few days of the trip but called & said there was a cool ceremony called

"ogok ogok" that we should see at a nearby temple.1st we stopped at our driver agung's house to get "saronged-up!"

there was balinese coffee & snacks--bananas & boiled potatoes.

Hi Paul, FM stands for "Forum Member", I stole that reference style from the Costa Rican thread by Ryan and others.

Hey. Nice and snarky coverage. Did you see the sign that I palced on our roof?? It said "YOU FORGOT TO BRING MATTYB !!!!!"

Looks like you had a great time. They sura have a lot of great and elaborate ceremonies in Indonesia.

This ceremony must be quite important seeing how it involves a tremendous amount of preparation, costumes, etc. The young girls in their cadmium yellow robes and headdresses are exquisite, as are the young men in the processional with their staffs. Also, please tell Lauren and Sun they look smashing in their sarongs and shades, as does Your Snarkiness! B) What is stuck to Melli's and Bonnie's foreheads? Rice?

Are you starting a new career as a tour guide to Bali?

One of those ogok ogok would be the perfect lawn ornament for my home. Maybe the dude on the swan?

I think they use tic tacs Kim, it's much cheaper than rice.

len they actually pay me to leave the country for awhile.

Parades? Markets? street side dining, airport lounge shots? WHERE ARE THE NEKKID DANCING GIRLS AND BROTHEL ACTION SHOTS YOU PROMISED?

Matty B said you were on a meth laced saki bender with a suitcase of stolen euros, a quart of ether and some ecstasy?!?!?
