The adventures of Bus # 4

Recommended Posts

putu enjula

Ok, let's get the story straight... Bus #4 didn't break down in front of a bar... we limped along until we found a "safe" place to stop, which happened to be right in front of a cantina... it was the bartendress' lucky day!

Here's a few pics before the pit stop... the party already started!

Somehow Andre had enough time to befriend a local and get in a game of checkers...

Good to see that the distribution of responsibilities worked out so well (post #46 and 47)! :mrlooney:

Nice coverage of the event, Angela! Presumably there's more to come? :)

Here are a few more pictures from Bus 4

This is Bill Olsen singing some opera for us, which was a real treat!

This is the first opera I ever listened to that wasn't sung by Bugs Bunny or Elmer Fudd. Thanks, Bill and everyone on the biennial for raising my understanding of the classics - classic song, classic palms, and classic beer (go Imperial!!!)

Craig,

You signed up! I'm impressed! Welcome to PalmTalk....next thing we know you'll be posting photos of mystery Dypsis palms! And it was great to meet you in Costa Rica. Hopefully the first of many Biennials for you! :)

Aloha,

Bo-Göran

I was on Bus #4 and I still can't believe the antics I witnessed! I don't know if Brazil is ready for Bus #4. I wonder if Andrew Henderson would be willing to take the Bus #4 gang on an Amazonian River tour. No cold beer provisions - we would have to survive on Andrea's elixirs.

When can we see the G-rated talent contest photos from Bus #4 Ryan?

I would be more than willing to make arrangements for an Amazonian cruise. Cold beer is usually no problem. Many of the floating gas stations on the rivers are stocked pretty well. A river cruise up the Negro River is something that might be interesting in conjunction with the next Biennial.

Oh I can see it now!! "Hey can we dock for a minute? Need to make a beer run!" They better start stocking up on the Brahma right now for "ox cart" #4! :mrlooney:

Angela,

I have seen that scene quite a few times. One time when I had a group of customers, mostly from the UK and Finland up the Negro River on a weekend boat trip. I went out fishing with a few of the guys in the morning. We did not get much in the way of fish, but we stopped by a village and picked up 4 tweleve packs of SKOL on the way back to the boat. Nobody even noticed our lack of fish. But, they had noticed that the cooler was getting low with refreshment. So we were a welcome sight. Between the Fins and British I don't know who drinks more.

Hehehe- that looks like a really fun bus. You get a flat and that's a reason to celebrate

Was every forum member that attended the Biennial on Bus #4???

No, I'm sure there were Forum members on all the four buses, but bus #4 had a VERY large percentage. Hmmm....wonder how that happened!? :mrlooney:

Gene,

I would say that most of the people on bus #4 (or their spouses) have posted on Palm Talk before the Biennial. A few of Bus #4 people have registered and posted since the Biennial, (eg. Craig, Lefty and Moose Knuckle) having seen the elephant they wanted to contribute. But there were several non Palm Talk people on Bus #4, and there were several Palm Talk folks on other buses, I think #1 had the most (behind #4).

OK, OK, OK, I'm the guy that said the bus had a flat tire in front of a bar. I got it wrong, my mistake.. After the bus had a flat tire it limped to a place where there was a bar! (Even better!) And now we find out you had live Opera and "Hooters guys serving Cervesa" too! Oh man, all bus 3 did was drive to the destinations, do really cool things, then drive home! Maybe I can be on "Bus 4" in Brazil.

Keith - The "fee" to get on bus #4 is considerable and is growing. Plus there is a two six pack per day per person honorarium to Andrea because she packs alot of ice and does not permit the ice be lonely. Also Bus #4 tips the driver and our tour escorts very heavily. We have to because it is the only way they put up with us.

Angela - In response to Post # 59, I would have to give a slight edge to the fins if my past experiences are taken into account. A slight edge but and edge none the less. We need to stop talking about the Scandanavian people, Bo may start with his Norweigan jokes. There was a Swede, a Dane and a Fin that walked into a Bar in Oslow ...

Lefty,

Your short term memory must be that....SHORT. Did you forget exactly how you got on bus #4? :) I'm sure bus #1-3 will be just as fun in Rio, but you'll have to tell me later on that one.

Actually, you could volunteer to put the bus assignment labels on the name tags the day before the Biennial like Lefty and I did. Ooops, I wasn't supposed to say that!
