They do have a beautiful conservatory there that has many,many tropicals planted inside. Ron Determan is or was(not sure if he still is there)  the currator of the conservatory, and has done an excellent job there.

I haven't been there for nearly a decade, when I was there for a carnivorous plant meeting.  The facility is excellent, and I think Determann is still managing it.  

The Garden, like other cultural facilities in Atlanta, is in part a memorial to more than a hundred members of the Atlanta elite who were on an art tour of Europe in 1962.  All died in a plane crash.

Dave,

Wow, what a devastating loss that must have been to the community. Pretty unimaginable.

Decided to check my database records, and it must have been an Air France Boeing 707 that aborted its take off at Paris Orly on June 3rd, 1962. A total of 130 were killed in that accident.

I checked the Woodruff Arts Center.  The crash of the chartered plane was indeed at Orly.
