Howdyall:

Today I got in my car and roared like a bat outta hell down the 15 freeway to Lake Elsinore, and savored the Inland Empire of Southern California.

Along the coast, it's "No Trespassing" etc., and frankly, no place to trespass to.

Here, there's still wide open spaces, though they are disappearing.

Here's an amazingly well-focused (for me, anyway) drive-by shot of a road cut with a nice bloom California Poppies -poppies poppies etc.

Couple of modest houses.

Lake Elsinore was, for a long time, a sleepy little town on the 15 on the way down to or from San Diego.  

Now, it's growing a bit, though the real onslaught has yet to start.

But it will.  Oh, yeah.

The green cliffs going straight into the water almost make it look like Hawaii! They seem to have only a Northern California palm selection over there!

Blossoms are about 2 inches (5 cm) across, borne in profusion anytime EXCEPT summer, yeah, right when you need them the most.
