Palm Society Tour of Gardens

Jeff Searle

Recommended Posts

The South Florida chapter put together three awsome gardens to tour in Broward County. The weather was beautiful as well as a great turn out of visitors. For many, it was their first time seeing some of these gardens.

The first garden we went to was Paul Humann who has 2 1/2 acres and has been there 14 years now.

There was at least 8 forum members including myself there as well, so please feel free to add your own pictures if you like.

Here's Andrea with Paul Humann as we arrived.

This is an extreamly rare Coccothrinax sp. that up to now, know one can seem to be able to identify it. Even Paul Craft who's been to Cuba many times has never seen it in habitat before. There's only about 5-6 known trees in private gardens here in South Florida.

Wow.  Nice garden and very good coverage.

Is it correct to assume that because Paul has only been in the property for 14 years all the palms we see there are about 14 years old too?

Gene,

Just about every palm you see has been planted by Paul since he has lived there, with the exception of some tall Royals which I didn't photograph. Also some of the large trees were there prior to him coming as well.

Ryan was unable to make this tour of gardens. I can get him into these at anytime when he's ready to go.
