I am sure you are correct.  When one sees maps like this, it sure makes a good case for the effects of the Gulfstream.  Look at the east coast vs west coast down south.

And, the same thing holds true when it comes to heat.  Look at the difference in number of days over 85F.  I suspect this is Gulfstream related, as well as on the prevailing winds?
