  4. The form of nitrogen in your fertilizer is very important, Ammonium (NH4)is not able to be be used by your plants, it needs to be broken down to Nitrite (NO2) and then Nitrate (NO3), in the nitrate form the plant can easily take it up. What you have got to remember is the size of the elements that your dealing with, we are talking down to the atomic size (atoms and molecules), so it will absorb into the leaves. Just like pesticide can absorb into your skin. Natural type fertilizers are always good to add to your fertilizing regime as they add vitamins, minerals and the normal fertilizer elements. Foliar feeding is very quick reacting but you can over do it. Balance it with a slow release fertilizer at the base of your plants. Hope this helps Regards Wanderanwills

  6. - 12:02PM: The sales area around lunch time was a bit empty, as people ate over by the tent, made a run to parts unknown for lunch, and other drinkable 'supplies'. - 12:03PM: The register tent had its procedures all ironed out, and had two lines for cash or credit card sales. The palms on the right were part of the holding area. - 12:08PM: Andre looks over his stash and makes sure he got what he came for before checking out for the day. Jamie did her best not to laugh as their friend Danny on the right pointed out her 'holding area' status. - 12:09PM: A nice sized Sabal uresana gets hauled over to the registers along with a Ceratozamia sp. 7. - 11:55AM: From everyone's reactions, I concluded that the ribs with the special sauce were amazing. People could not get enough. Jeff walked over to the tent and tried to barter palms for more food. While he was there he noticed they also had desserts. - 12:00PM: The seating area next to the BBQ tent had a mix of the lunch crowd and those waiting for the next tour. - Jeff got in line to get a dessert, a type of key lime cake I think. Rob was in 'too cool to be in line' mode. - 12:02PM: It was high noon on Saturday, and the sale was as busy as it was going to be. Customers continued to come for plants and tours, but the rate started to diminish after noon. Ryan

  8. - 10:56AM: One group of customers brought their own cart and added an assortment of palms from different booths. - 11:27AM: Too bad this photo isn't scratch-n-sniff or you too could have enjoyed the BBQ. There was plenty of ribs and chicken to go around. - 11:34AM: FM. Rob van der Borg (Borgy230) and Jeff decided to split a full rack of ribs and a side of bread. Somehow, Rob only got the bread in the deal. - Jeff was deciding between smiling or eating, but his hunger won out. Ryan

  9. - 10:42AM: "Hmm... what is that great, sweet bar-be-que smell coming from?" At a little before eleven in the morning, two trucks drove in behind the sales area pulling behind them a pair of giant BBQ grills. One of them stopped for a moment just behind the booth and proceeded to fill the area with tasty BBQ smoke. The solution to the lunch dilemma had arrived. - 10:50AM: There was plenty of room for parking and it was well used throughout the weekend. I do remember a few of the closer spots being fought over. - 10:51AM: Get 'em Lenny. SFPS Director Lenny Goldstein is at the ready to answer any palm related question. - 10:52AM: FM. Tom Walsh (tew) looks over the Licuala peltata var. sumawongii gallon plants to see which one would best handle the trip back to Maryland. Ryan
