Sunday Oct. 28, 2012 12:00 noon Where; Mobile Botanical Gardens 5151 Museum Drive, Mobile, Alabama Plan to arrive around 11:30 for registration. There will be a pot luck lunch at noon. A business meeting and palm auction will follow. Members are encouraged to bring guests and newcomers are always welcome!

There will be a general membership meeting of the SFPS on Monday night April 1st., at 7:00 pm, at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in the Corbin Room. Fairchild is located at 10901 S. Cutler Road, Coral Gables, FL. Dr. Aaron J. Palmateer of TREC will give a program on " New Insect Pests and Diseases Affecting Plant Nursery and Landscape Industries ". Please do not miss this very informative program. Please bring in palms for donation to the auction, which will be held after the program. Beverages will be provided. Food will be potluck. Free seeds will be available at the information table.

April's BPACS outing is to the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, Forsythia Drive (off Long Road), Tamborine MountainPlease note that due to recent flooding and bridge washout, the main road from Oxenford to Mt Tamborine is currently closed. There is a detour in place via Reserve Road, Upper Coomera. Alternatively you can go via the Cedar Creek or Nerang-Canungra routes...all are scenic drives so make for an enjoyable trip.We will gather in the car park at 10:00am on Sunday 23/04/17 and then walk the gardens, which contain a diverse collection of plants, along with some nice stands of palms. It should be a very informative and entertaining show. This presentation was postponed from September, and is worth waiting for!

On Friday, August 23, HIPS will be presenting a video, Powerpoint, and slide presentation on last years IPS biennial at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. Kona Danny will present a short video of the pre-tour excursion and sights of Bangkok and Nong Nooch. Tim Brian will present a Powerpoint / side show focusing mainly on the biennial and the palms of the garden. A portion of the meeting, which is open to the general public, will be a question and answer session on local palm culture. Don't miss the Brisbane Palm and Cycad Society meeting on Tuesday the 25th November, at Milton State School library, 7:30pm. Wal Donovan is giving a pictorial presentation on the world famous Fairchild gardens in Miami. The International Palm Society biennial was held in Miami in June of this year and a visit to these gardens was a highlight of the biennial. A big contingent of BPACs members attended so look for familiar faces. Your roving Biennial reporter with Brazilians Gileno and Alberto at Fairchild.

BPACS February 2016 Outing - Mt Nebo

This month’s outing will be to Mt Nebo. This will comprise a bushwalk to see the local palm and cycad species, and enjoy a little rainforest scenery. We will follow this with a BBQ. Please bring your own meat, salads and drinks etc if you intend to eat. We will meet at the Manorina car park on Mt Nebo Road at 10:00am, then head off along the Morelia Walking track. It should be a lovely morning to enjoy a little nature...hope to see you all there!

The Garden Club of Stuart is hosting its biennial garden tour of beautiful gardens in Martin County on March 23 and 24th. The tickets are $30 in advance or $35 the day of. The proceeds goes to beautifying Martin County with plants and scholarships for aspiring gardeners. There are 6 unique gardens on the tour, including my own garden.
