Put October 12-13 on your calendar for the Palm Beach Palm and Cycad Society's great fall sale. It will be held at Caloosa Park in Boynton Beach, FL. The times are 9-4 on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday. There will be many vendors selling rare and unusual palms and cycads, many at or below wholesale prices. Free admission. Free parking. Come out and support your local society. Credit cards accepted! Don't go from grower to grower! Make a single trip and shop several of the area's best palm and cycad growers.

Hiya folks - I lifted this directly from the PSSC website: The September meeting will have two gardens on tour in Camarillo, Ventura County. Both are beautiful examples of how to landscape for a lush, topical ambiance. The first consists of large, well established plants; while the second shows what a fabulous garden one can create in a short time. Neither garden has been on tour before. Well, the 2nd Ratpack tour kicks off next Friday (29th August), in conjunction with the Brisbane Palm and Cycad Society. This is a four day event with a road trip from Brisbane to Rockhampton, a tour of the Rocky Botanical Gardens, Day trip to Blackdown Tablelands, Trip to Byfield, Tour of the best private garden in Rocky with BBQ and Palm Society members from Rocky, plus Kershaw gardens, a nursery visit then back down to Brisbane. FCPS Fall Meeting

Jim Menge has offered to host our Fall Meeting at his home and garden. Jim is one of the many people that originally contributed to building/planting, the Palm & Cycad Garden at FCCJ South Campus, in 1988. He will be grilling marinated chicken for our meal, and if anyone would like, you may bring a vegetable, fruit, dessert or anything to add to the cookout. Next Tuesday night we are having a special dinner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Palm and Cycad Society of Australia (PACSOA). Should be a great night, the menu looks very interesting at the Summit restaurant on top of Mt Cootha. What's even better about this night is that we will still hold a raffle, you beauty. At Edith Bergstroms place from 1-4 pm. We are delighted to have an invitation to visit one of the most beautiful gardens in the area. The garden is large and diverse, including several microclimate niches from desert to tropical. Of course there is a spectacular collection of mature and exotic palm specimens to enhance your botanical experience. There will be a potluck and auction. More information to be posted soon. I won't be able to go as I have another commitment. I'm bummed as Ive heard Edith's place is really nice.
