   is this Forum Software no longer compatible with modern phones? I’ve been trying to write posts but whenever I attach files the pictures come out black. I was really hoping that this forum could be an alternative to the Zuckerberg empire but it appears that the software is not able to upload photos from an iPhone. Attached is an example. Sorry if posted in wrong forum admin feel free to move to right place.

   we all know the story of the tulip mania? plant trends are rather fascinating. what's the biggest plant trend in the past 50 years? i wouldn't be surprised if it was the recent trend in houseplants that happened as a result of covid and was facilitated by instagram. personally, i enjoyed this trend quite a bit since it created a huge supply of some of the plants i've been collecting for many years, such as aroids. before this trend, when i would see ecuagenera at local shows, they sold like 95% orchids and 5% aroids. now it's the complete opposite. imagine if they had initially sold 100% orchids, then they would have been too late on the houseplant trend…

   So instead of working today I spent the morning creating a dark theme for the site. Why a dark theme? Well for those of you who spend all day at a computer (like me), or like browsing the site in the evening (also me), dark themes are great for reducing strain on your eyes and won't keep your wife up all night while you browse palmtalk in bed.    3 line preview of forum topics?

   After the latest update all the forums defaulted to showing the topic and then a 3 line preview of the first post. This showed up on my Android tablet (Brave browser) a few days ago, and then showed up on my regular PC (Firefox browser) today. While this might be a nice feature to have as an option, I couldn't find a way to turn it off in my profile settings. I vaguely recall this happening a year or two ago, but can't recall what I did to "fix" it. I already tried logging out and back in, with no change. Any suggestions?

    Not getting email notifications for messages

    This is definitely turned on in settings. I certainly used to get emails for messages, and I still get emails for subscribed topics. Yes, I have checked that they're not ending up in the spam folder.

    Seems to have limits on where you can search. Use to be able to limit search to topic titles, now only the whole kit and kabodle...titles and anyplace w/in a sentence

    I'm just curious if anybody else is seeing any inappropriate advertising on the site? I have seen sexual content (nothing pornographic, just items for sale) and t-shirts with political nonsense. Admins, are there any controls around that sort of thing?

    How do I attach a FedX Shipping Label via a Palm Talk Seller?

    Piping Plovers want to sell me a plant, I want to send him my FedX shipping label, and I can't tell if it was attached. sent last night and the PM shows a box, that says the attached file. Should it show the specifics ie (like a picture view)? In other words, how do I know I was successful that it was attached.     I come on the forum and try to search before I post questions. However, the site has a crazy search blocking timer. It keeps telling me to wait different times before I can look at the second page of the search results. I can never see the second page of the search results. Can this be fixed? It does render most of the past posts useless. Thank you

    Hi Mod, Many, many, many of the interactions on Palmtalk are in regards to nutritive problems with palms, etc.. Lots of us help out with this, it's no big deal, I think many of us are glad to help. In an effort to assist people in diagnosing their palm issues, I remember 'a key to common landscape palm disorders and diseases' by Tim Broschat and Monica Elliott that was published in the September 2005 issue of Palms. It starts on page 143. I've used it over the years when I wasn't able to figure out what I had going on with a palm.     The PalmTalk team has done a great service for the palm community with this forum! It has a modern feel with many nice features and the price can't be beat! That said, there are some pain points with the Palm Exchange forum. The listings last forever even if the item is no longer available. This is clutter which the user must hunt through, and there's a lot of it. Listings that that aren't on the first couple pages get 'buried' behind the others. Are they still available or not? We may never know! A possible solution is found in how the exchange boards are listed. A tabular index (or "search page") will provide a superior experience. Sea…

    This is just a small, cute suggestion. I always see people's birthdays on the side and I wish I could say happy birthday to everybody individually, but I think it would be neat if the birthday tab would let you send a reaction, kind of as if you were liking a post or something, just as a simple way of making that tab more interactive and to let people know happy birthday.

    For years, this site has said my pics are too big. I have had problems uploading pics on this site so often it makes me want to no longer use this site. I used to have a digital camera to take standard sized pics that I didn't have a problem at all uploading to a tropical gardening Facebook page I have, but this site would give me lots of problems trying to upload the exact same pics. Now, I use my phone camera that takes standard sized pics, but yet again, nothing but problems trying to upload pics. I wonder how many other people are discouraged from using Palmtalk for the same reason??? For those of us who are low tech and not savvy in the technical aspects of phot…
