Palms and Exotic Plants
by palm tree man- 2 replies
- 1.3k views
If anyone has an unwanted palm or just a cool plant that needs a good home I would be glad to give it space in the garden or in my greenhouse. If you have excess seeds I also have an area set up for germination. I just love plants and hate to see a good palm or plant go to waste. I don't have the means to move large palms long distances but I can arrange transportation in some cases. Thank you again and happy gardening.

25 Washingtonia filifera seeds (US shipping)
by Small palm- 2 replies
- 1.3k views
Hey palmtalk, I have about 25 Washingtonia filifera seeds (California Fan Palm) that I'm willing to give away for free! They are leftovers from what I collected last year. I germinated many of these during the fall of 2015. I just took 2 of the seeds out today to float test them and they are still good seeds. The ones I'm growing germinated in about 2 weeks. These are easy to getminate. If you want them, all I ask is that you pay the shipping, and live in an area where these will grow. The California Fan Palm is great for areas that are hot and dry during the summer. This is perfect for people that live in inland California, Nevada, and Arizona for example. …

Howea belmoreana on threshold of trunking
by DoomsDave- 1 follower

Everyone: I have a pair of Howea belmores that need a new home. Free, as you wish love really was. Gratis. No dinero necessario. As you can see from the pic, they're a bit sunburned. They'd really benefit from a home at the beach or under high canopy. I have others I want to keep, but these need a good home. Shoot me a PM, come get, bring a truck, and help an old man in training dig. I'd plan on at least an 18" rootball. Though I understand Howeas take digging well. The Shoe provides scale for the base; overall height about 6 - 7 feet.

Nice groundcover bromeliads - awesome flowers
by ThunderSRQ- 2 replies

I'm going to be thinning out these bromeliads and will save some if any local folks want them -- they are a short (approx. 12" to 18") green variety that spread very slowly and do great under oak canopy. Tim

Donations for school appreciated
by Vincent- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
Hi. I am helping out the local Punta Gorda elementary school- Sallie Jones- with a landscape project. The school building is basically new but due to budget cuts, there is nothing for landscaping. I am gratefully accepting any donations of cycads, palms or other plants to make the school a beautiful place. I am on the west coast of Florida, 100 miles south of Tampa. I will drive in FL to pick up material and will pay for shipping out of my own pocket. If you have something you would like to donate, please pm. Thanks. Vincent Bodnar

Bambusa textilis Kanapaha
by Palmə häl′ik- 1 reply
- 2.2k views
I've gotta thin out my boo. These things will eat up some real estate... Up fer grabs is a 25gal-ish Bambusa textilis Kanapaha (Royal Bamboo, Wong Chuk Bamboo). It's too wide to go into a 15gal unless divided... These were bought from the TampaBay area bamboo guru, Mr. Roy Rogers. This thing was a single caned, one gallon when I planted it. I bought five of 'em, so you can imagine where I'm at with these... Very tight, erect culms. She's right around twenty feet tall right now. ~Ray.

Free posts used for shadecloth structure
by Hilo Jason- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
Rather than put these in a landfill I figured I would see if anyone here had the need for any of these posts that I made for my shadecloth structures. These are 1.5" pvc, about 7-8 feet tall each. The base of each is a 8" x 8" concrete block with the PVC pipe cemented into it. I would bury the bases so you couldn't see them and it added more support to have them buried. These work good if you are looking to cover a section of your yard with shade cloth and not just 1 palm with a shade cloth tent. Pick up in Fallbrook. I have 8 poles available, and the cross section pieces. PM me if interested.

Extra Germinated Seeds (Sabal mexicana)
by GoatLockerGuns- 1 reply

I have some extra germinated Sabal mexicana seeds to give away. Two seeds showing germination through the baggie (possibly more to come). These were personally sourced from a palm growing at The Pearl in San Antonio, Texas last month. I am willing to ship for free to the lower 48; just agree to give them a good home. PM me if interested (first come, first serve).
