by PALM MOD- 13 replies
- 18.7k views
This is a new forum for all members (any registered user) to use if they have palm/plant related items that they wish to give away. This is mainly envisioned for the free distribution of seed, but can also include palms, such as excess seedlings, all the way up to in-ground giants. It could also include materials such as pots, soil, or shade structures needing removal. Under no circumstances will any schemes to make money be tolerated. In addition, be certain that live plant material that you may be shipping or receiving complies with any regulations pertaining to inter-state or inter-continental agricultural trade.

Hello, everyone: I have a nice crop of hybrid Brahea seeds, free shipping worldwide to all who want, no charge. These are large seeds, so I won't be able to get many in an envelope. As the pictures show, this thing is big. It was planted from a very sad-sack 7 gallon in 2006 more or less. It's now the better part of 30 feet (10 m) tall, about 12 - 15 feet (4 - 5 M) across the crown, and about 60 cm (2.5 feet) across the base. The Shoe is 32 cm, 12.5" long. I really don't know if these will come true or not. This palm is far bigger than either of the parents, which I think are B. armata and B. brandeegii. Full sun, regular water for fastest growth,…

Wow, it's Easter evening, and I sit, gazing at a HUGE amount of Brahea hybrid seeds, needing a home, and love. Below is a picture of the parent. GORGEOUS, I think.(Pic below.) 10 M (30 feet) tall, 3.33 M (10 feet) across crown, about 2 - 3 feet (.6 - 1 M) across base of trunk (without leaf bases). This plant is awesome. I've sent many seed before, and I'll send many more again. These will take heat, cold, and more water than most Braheas. What is not to love? If you want seeds, FREE OF CHARGE send me a Private Message ("PM") with "Brahea seeds" in the topic, and your mailing address, and some seeds will be yours! Happy (no, ECSTATIC) palm growing!

Free Archontophoenix tuckeri seed 1 2 3

Howdyall: I have a fine crop of A. tuckeri seeds, and the ones I tested were all sinkers, that is, they didn't float, so they should germinate well. Here's a picture of one of the trees. It's about 25 feet (8m) tall, trunk is about 45 cm (18") across the base. The Shoe is 13" (32 cm) long. I have about a dozen in my garden. They make great canopy. They're fast, pretty all year round, don't hold dead leaves. They rustle in the wind. The specimen pictured was a 3 foot (1 M) tall 15 gallon in 2008. They will suffer cold damage below freezing 0 C, 32 F, but recover quickly if heat comes back. They HATE desert heat. They will grow well indoors…

'Murka, Croatia, India, England, where ever. They're not from my garden, but another PSSC member who donated TONS of seed. Mostly "bush" type with some "tree" type. Not segregated. FREE Trithrinax acanthacoma/brasiliensis seeds 1 2 3

The palm below has been in my garden since about 2004, when I got it as a 15 gallon. It's now about 10 feet tall. This is a great species for those PalmTalkers who must contend with heat and cold. It's native to Argentina, where it experiences both. If you're in the Mediterranean region in Europe, England, maybe even Holland, these are worth a try in the ground. Likewise in the Southeastern US where a lot of cool palms are marginal; South Carolina, and southern Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Northern Florida. Try them in West Texas, Arizona. They will take cool, too, in British Columbia, northern California, coastal Oregon and Washington. And, anyw…

Howdyall! It's that time again, and the Archies are all having an orgy and I'm up to my eyeteeth in new, fresh seed. The ten-thousand-duplets. Literally (well, maybe). Some of you got lots (of seed) last year and some grew, some didn't, and if you want some now, follow these instructions: INSTRUCTIONS Send PM to DoomsDave "Archie seeds" in message (please say Archie, or tuckeri, to avoid confusion with other seed giveaways). Your FULL mailing address. Please don't ask if I still have any If I run out, I'll advise. I have so many. Yes, even the ocean is finite, but you go ahead and drink it all . . . . I don't care if you got so…

I just cleaned a big batch of seed and it's ready to go. Send me your mailing address in a PM (Private message) and I'll send them to you, free of charge. Please put "Free Cocothrinax seed" in the message line for your PM so I know easily what it's for. I'll send them all over the world. Last year I sent them to all over the U.S., as well as (but not limited to) Poland, Saudi Arabia and South Korea. I think a few to Russia, too. And Texas, Arizona, California, Massachusetts. These are small seeds, so I usually stick a good number in the envelope. Some of you got some last year, and, apparently didn't sprout, so don't be afraid to ask again. Or if they …

Free Dypsis lanceolata seeds - mailed worldwide! 1 2

As he noted in his thread, Mike Wardlow was nice enough to give me his whole crop of Dypsis lanceolata seeds, and I took them home. Some I'll sprout and use as PSSC meeting party favors; others I'll mail to you if you send me a PM (Private message) with your mailing address and "Free Dypsis lanceolata seed" in the message. I've gotten seeds from Mike before and they generally germinate quite fast. They don't keep long, so I'm planning on giving everything away. Stored seed from a while back hasn't grown nearly as well as it did when fresh. This is a smaller Dypsis, a bit on the skinny side, marginal away from the beach, but should also be a nice house plant…
