Cycadjungle/Tom Broom

Just wanted to give a big thumbs up for Tom and the cycad jungle. Recently was looking for a dioon edule " queretero". Not many leads, and the ones I did find were small and pricey. I stumbled through @cycadjungle website,it was old but had some really good prices. So I shot Tom an email and the rest is history. A beautiful blue queretero was sent,I purchased this 15 gallon beast for probably not much more with shipping than a small seedling from another vendor.

my personal experience in dealing with these guys i hope will be helpful to others that maybe considering tying to acquire some plants from them. i had contacted them via email and phone calls and they told it was no problem for me to stop by for some plants for me as a homeowner. i showed up from AZ and they told me they were closed-thanks. again, a few calls confirming that it was fine to buy plants for my house and not a mention that they prefer to only deal in wholesale. even if they are gracious enough to be open to the public some random weekend perhaps other palm collectors will consider my experience with these guys.

EBAY SCAMMER ALERT
by NorthFlpalmguy- 2 replies

I know some of us sell palms/seeds on Ebay and other sites as well and needed to pass on this info. Be warned there is a scammer by the username "sellssword" and is trying to make sellers think their seeds are bad which in reality they are not and he won't return the seeds and demands a refund. It has now happened to several of us now and needs to be reported as I bet there are more of us. With the way Ebay is now ran it is completely one-sided and the vendors are at these scammer's mercy.

Anybody bought from them? They're a Florida seller who has some really unique and rare stuff so somebody here has to know them. I just ordered a Hydriastele beguinii for dirt cheap, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

These are Bismarkia germinated seeds were(is) listed on ebay by a seller from Lakeland, /florida. His asking price was 19.95 plus 12.70 shipping. When I asked about these seeds he said they were very healthy, when I asked him about the root condition appearing to be cut or broken, the scissors are a nice touch, which Im sure many if not all will agree means certain death. I have germinated many Bismarkia as well as other seeds, but he insisted that I must not know what I am looking at or how to continue germination. Afterwhich he cancelled my order with him of other plant materials, then sent me message through ebay that my items had shipped. His ad for the bismarkias h…

Familiar with patioplants.com?

Ok so I found this site, looked to have a nice selection of palms, mostly normal varieties, As well as other tropicals. My problem was where's the pricing? So I got to looking for reviews and found very little for as well put together as the site is. Is this just a case of having to sign up for pricing,is it wholesale, no shipping during winter? Or is there something squirrly with them? I'm a bit of a skeptic by nature. TIA http://Patio plants.com

Kristy from Fishbranch called me today to ask how my palms were doing after the cold winter we had. I thought that not only was their plant material top notch, but they really care to see how things were going almost a year after installation! That my friends is a quality grower. If you are looking for giant S. causiarum's, huge Livistonia nitida, saribus, decora etc. or want that prize Phoenix sylvestris for your yard, you should check out Fishbranch's website. If you want to see details of my experience with them, look at my thread below. An A+ company. http://www.fishbranchtreefarm.com/ http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?/topic/34415-alicehunter2000s-b…

Well ... what Marisa has done for me is incredible. A Brasilian woman remembering a German one and took a L. hoehnei from Brasilia to Germany. I have not made it to meet her personally, but I know Marisa will receive a personal gift around Christmas. I do believe that it is easy to order for all Americans - as far as I know, international shipment is not available at this time. Look at a phantastic and giant nursery with very special palms. I placed an order several months ago with Jeff Marcus--- this is a bit of a testimonial to his good operations for the local buyers. ---- Its easy to praise good service but the real proof of good service is when things go a wrye. The order involved some rare C. tuerkheimmi which are very fragile and summer is hot and unforgiving in FL. UPS totally botched the order mixed up it up with another order thatn they coluld deliver. Before I even realized things were screwed up I got a panicked phone class from Jeff. He called me three times to make certain it was right--- He also called UPs countless times to ensure they kept it in the office where it was air condition…

GoatLockerGuns

Full disclosure, these were freebies. He had posted some sprouted Xmas palm seeds last year and sent them. My local post office is terrible, 3 out of 4 were DOA after taking roughly a month to travel what I'd guess is a 6 hour drive, tops. He posted some L. Chinesis sprouted seeds a few days ago. I offered to pay for UPS shipping, since only 1 of 4 envelopes of seeds from @DoomsDave arrived 3 1/2 months after ship date. That one envelope took 3 1/2 months and was obliterated and empty. @GoatLockerGuns wouldn't take my money and UPS'd free seeds and told me to just pay it forward. Solid dude. Just wanted to throw some kudos.
