Some of you may remember the thread this was in, but I'm ready to give it up. I almost took it apart, but its more useful as is.. You can now get your giant palm purchase home and not worry about snapping its "neck". It worked great getting it home. The palm dried and died later, but that was a different story. Will not be shipped. For Pick-up only. FREE

Looking to trade or sell this large Pandanus furcatus, one of the more cold hardy pandans Its 8-9ft overall in the pot (about 6-7ft tall in the ground). It has been trimmed to fit in the greenhouse and to prevent injury during transport. I live near both I-75 and HWY301 in Gainesville. Should be hardy into the mid 20Fs, especially if protected from heavy frost. It has seen 25F (only slight frost) with minor damage. Looking specifically for Pritchardia thurstonii, any butia x cocosoid hybrids, cold hardy citrus (especially limequats), or most coccothrinax spps.

POTS -- Nursery containers
by DoomsDave- 2 replies

Howdyall: The day of reckoning is nigh upon me, as my insurance company for my house wants to give me a discount, but they'll have to write a new policy and come and visit the house around the beginning of October, 2009. I've got lots of pots, 5-gallons, 1's, 2's, etc. The insurance people will FREAK if they see them, so I'm going to get rid of them, somehow, some way. I DON'T want to get a dumpster, but if I must . . . . So, if you want pots, let's have a pot-party, as it were. Come and visit, come and take, we'll all exult in positivity. Pots in exchange for love? Positivity? Goodwill? Shoot me a PM if interested. To paraphrase the reggae ban…

I had a very high success rate with germinating seeds of Pritchardia schattaueri and Sabal mauritiiformis last summer. Because of this, I now have more seedlings of both than I need. I am looking for a Beccariophoenix madagascariensis (the no-windows species), so I would like to trade some seedlings for one. I have up to 8 of both species available for trade, so let me know if you would like either, and how many. I'll be generous with these, as I got both seeds for free from the generosity of other Palmtalk members, so if you want all 8 of both then I'm fine with that. I would like a B. madagascariensis that has character leaves if possible (I've had trouble with them bef…

Ravenea xerophylla for trade
by PalmGuyWC- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
I was reading in Palm Talk that R. xerophylla has become very scarce and there may not be any seeds available for years. Large specimans are now hard to find. I have a 10 gal. size that I've owned for about 5 years, and the plant must have been aprox 10 years old when I got it. I don't think it will grow outside in my harsh, wet, cold winter climate. I have adobe clay also, so I think it would be a death sentance to plant outside. I would like to see the palm growing in a nice warm, well drained place in S. Calif. I have babied this plant for 5 years, so I'd like to see it grow to its potential. Mine has been grown outside but overhead protection in the winter. It should …

Reclinata hybrid seeds
by Ben in Norcal- 1 reply
- 2.4k views
My female P. reclinata is covered in seed - and there are no other Senegals around, so it must have been pollinated by my male caneriensis, or my male robellini, or both! I threw 5 test seeds in dirt last weekend and every one has germinated already, so they are viable! These things are so promiscuous. Who knows what they are - besides definitely being hybrids. I have hundreds of seeds and needless to say I do not need them all! Anyone have interest in these? I'd love to trade for other seeds or seedlings - I have been battling roof rats in my greenhouse and lost a lot of my stock. Also these seeds are free for local pick up in NorCal.
