Meryta balansae
by LJG- 35 replies
- 6.6k views
I have some Meryta balansae I am selling from plants I hand pollinated and grew from seed. I bought these plants in the second picture below about 4 years ago in bands from Leon for $50 a plant. I don't know of anyone else getting their plants to set viable seed. These plants are known to handle 28 degrees (maybe more) and are no issue in cooler environments. They like to start out protected from the sun but can handle full sun when bigger. These are really great companion plants as they do not take up a lot of space. $30/plant $25/plant if two or more. Plus shipping.

E. heenanii is a distinctive beautiful rare cycad. Loran Whitelock has an image of this cycad on the cover of his book "The Cycads" ! Very few cycads are more sought after than E. heenanii. Seed production is sporadic because they cone infrequently. Click on this link for more info and pics of a mature plant; http://www.pacsoa.or...s/heenanii.html The pics are of the plant for sale. It has a 5" caudex and a bad flush do to the lack of a summer last year. This is a rare opportunity for you to own this beautiful collectors dream plant!!! $6000.00 and it's yours! Encephalartos longifolius blunt tip fishtail blue
by yachtingone- 13 replies
- 6.2k views
Encephalartos longifolius blunt tip fishtail blue is a very rare leaf form of longifolius. Out of over 200 mature plants grown approximatly 79% were normal leaf form 20% were blunt tip and 1% were fishtailed blunt tip! Two male and one female came from a single seed batch of over 200 individuals. The female cone was succesfully hand pollenated. This is probably the first time this leaf form has ever been produced by people! The pics are of the mother plant. She looks alittle ragged right now. The leaves are old and she just finished kicking out cones. Fresh leaves are quite blue! Some leaf pics! A leaflet. Narly! The mother plant and me. …

March 4th, 5th & 6th 2011 ╠═══════════════════════════════════════════════╣ The South Florida Winter season is slowly going by, and as of halfway through February, I am confidant we will avoid the freezing temperatures we experienced last year at this time. (crosses fingers) For those who were in attendance might remember, the 2010 Spring Extravaganza saw frost on the first morning of the event and it was so cold. That unforgettable weather was not a deterrent in keeping the plant hungry from lining up at the gate on …

Sabal palmetto "Lisa" seedlings
by PalmatierMeg- 14 replies

I germinated these seedlings in early 2009 from seeds I collected from a local wild Sabal Lisa I designated #1 to separate it from a similar Lisa about 100 yards away. Now I have approximately 50 of these seedlings and no place to put them. So, they must go. My husband is tired of looking at all the pots. Please, please note the following: Price: $5.00 each. Minimum order 3 plants ($15.00). By ordering at least 3, you give yourself an excellent chance of obtaining one or more Lisas. Sabal Lisa seeds germinate approximately 70% true Lisa. And no, I can't reliably tell the difference in the seedling stage. Shipping: $12.00 for a box of up to 6 seedlings. Sent barer…

Microcycas calocoma is a very rare and beautiful cycad from Cuba. Calocoma is Greek for beautiful crown of leaves. This is a very fast grower, 4 to 8 inches a year! This cycad does NOT like frost. It will defoliate with froston it and a hard frost could do serious damage to the caudex. The plant has very distinctive leaves. The leaflets don't get smaller at the leaf apex giving the leaf a chopped off look. There is only 1 plant in the genera Microcycas. This plant is in a 15 gallon container. It has a 2 7/8" caudex. As you can see in the caudex pic it is ready to flush new leaves. You can also see the chopped off look of the leaves This exceedingly rare cy…
