King of the Gummy Bears has died

Never even knew I cared . . . But. They are good candy, even if they look more like aborted bear fetuses than bears. They have that nice, fruity taste ( I assume, very unlike actual bear fetuses . . . ) They arrived in Ohio in the 1980s and took everyone by storm. Even my dentist admitted he liked them. http://www.today.com/money/king-gummy-bears-dead-8C11396070

Deadly oak disease 'spreading' in UK
by avanza- 0 replies
The government is stepping up monitoring of a disease thought to pose a serious threat to UK oak trees. Acute Oak Decline, which causes weeping patches on the stems of mature trees, is on the rise in England, particularly in the Midlands and the South East. A national survey has been commissioned as part of a new £1.1m research drive. Thousands of trees are thought to be affected, the Forestry Commission's lead scientist on the condition told Radio 4's Farming Today. "This is a serious problem in the UK," said Dr Sandra Denman. "So far we've only seen it in England, but because we haven't done any formal surveys we're unsure as to the full extent of the problem.…

Wayne, Although we've yet to have had the pleasure of crossing paths, we share a mutual hobby, appreciation and collection of friends. I hope that the appointment of the Bucs new head coach coincided with what you had hoped for in a team leader. Beyond that - best wishes for the happiest of birthdays! Cheers! Rich

I saw this and almost peed myself laughing. The sheer, Mad-Mennish-ness of it! Sigh, please, everyone, a bit of a sense of humor . . . . Personally, I think it should be the other way round. http://now.msn.com/now/0707-men-only-parking.aspx\\ "The mayor of tiny Triberg in the Black Forest has divvied up the town's parking spaces by gender: 12 wide, well-lit spots for women and narrow . . . ."

Last time I posted about the tourney no one really seemed interested.... Easy to keep interest when your team is still alive but so far this has been a fun tourney for college basketball enthusiasts. I have Florida winning it all in my office bracket, playing Wisconsin in the final game. The Wisconsin pick has me already winning my office bracket. Really awesome to see the Billion Dollar Bracket challenge busted in the second round.

Only in a rural community. Hit-and-run accident ends horse race through town OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - It was a hit-and-run accident where the offending party rode away on his horse. Opelousas police continue to investigate a Wednesday horse race through the center of this town of 16,000, reports The Daily World (http://bit.ly/1adn4iC ). It ended with one rider racing through a stop sign and colliding with a minivan on a busy street. Witnesses say two young men were racing when one hit the minivan. The driver of the van wasn't hurt, but the horse smashed its head through a side window and hit the van hard enough to leave a dent. The driver says the horse reared up …
