Ciczi got me thinking this morning. This Board has way too many men.The existing girls are all beautiful and dynamic. My favorite beautiful, dynamic female posters are the amazing ladies from Europe, who do such incredible work with Palms in tough climates. That stated,my thought is how we generate more beautiful, dynamic Lady posters on this Board? What do we do? Advertise? Run specials? Give economic incentives? Can our beautiful, dynamic current female Posters give thoughts and recommendations? We need some equilibrium and firm guidance. As you know, we are boys.

Weeds of Sydney 1 2

I am in a volunteer bushcare group that seeks to replace weeds with natives, so I thought it would be fun to show some of our most troublesome weeds. Anredera cordifolia Madeira vine. If any plant could be called evil, this is it. Aerial bulbs can drop to the ground and germinate even after the roots and lower stems of the vine have been removed.

I've noticed a lot of us have all sorts of cool cars & trucks in the background of many of the Palmy pics we post. Maybe I catch the tail light of an old MGB in a garage or the front fender of a Bentley but I notice them and wish I could see the whole vehicle. So join in ! Share a pic of your's, your spouses, kids, whatever. Here's one of mine, a '67 Camaro RS SS Convertible. It's been under the metal knife lately while I replaced all the sheet metal in the trunk area.

Something that really bothers me 1 2

Thanks to the very generous donations from people on this message board and through the CFPACS, I have managed to create a very nice palm collection on the campus of my school, the University of Florida in Gainesville. When I planted the yard with a team of people from the Grounds Department, the person in charge was very encouraging, saying how he really supported people who go out of their way to bring their passion to the campus. Of course, he was not the first person I had to go through in order to plant these palms. I first had to write a proposal, get it approved by the Landscape Committee and then get permits in order to plant the palms from the school, the city, …

What beverage goes best with palms? 1 2
by _Keith- 64 replies

When the work is being done, for me it is plain old Bud Light straight from the can. In viewing mode only, a Greg Norman Cabernet does it for me. Unless it is a really hot midsummer day, in which case I may revert back to the Bud Light. And on a cool/cold morning, nothing beats an early walk through the gardens with a steaming cup of dark roast coffee. So, what beverage heightens your palm viewing pleasure?

Further to the movies thread, I thought it would be good to have a thread about actors. There are some fantastic actors now and in the past, but I wanted to focus on those with grwat sceen presence. The are many that whether or not they act well can captivate an audience with their presence and charisma and really make the stage their own. I will list a few examples of those that I think fit the bill, but please add those which you think also fit into this category. Sean Connery Richard Gere Morgan Freeman John Travolta Robert Duvall Michael Caine Steve McQueen Brigitte Bardot Marilyn Monroe There are obviously many others, but I'll give someone else a ch…

the plastic pond liner i used to make my koi pond was losing the battle with invasive palm roots,so i talked my pops into building a more permanent structure in its place.put on yer work boots & safety-googles & join us! 1st some "before" pix... recliner by target. the water level is 2' down due to roots which have punctured the liner. it was kinda "jerry-rigged" & i knew someday i'd have to upgrade. "lets get ready to ruuuuuummmmmmmblllllleeeeeee!!!!!"

So, if you are reading this thread, you probably know about the 'deflate gate' where 11 out of the Patriot's 12 balls were deflated by about 3 lbs so that Brady could grip the ball better, during the rainy and nasty AFC Championship game. At first, I thought this was a minor story, but when I realized both teams have their own balls, it became quite clear just how much of an advantage Brady had over Luck. If both quarterbacks used the same ball, that would be a violation of the rules, but not nearly as much of an advantage as it actually played out to actually be. Also, I don't think it is plausable that neither Brady nor Belichick knew about this. Rather, I …

So, do you have coyotes? 1 2
by DoomsDave- 63 replies

Howdyall: Matt's post including Frog in the fog, one the mend from c-dawg attack made me wonder where they are now. Here in the U.S., they're all over. When I was a kid, the idea of coyotes in Euclid would have provoked a snort of derision. Now, you can hear them, especially in the wooded areas. Here in Cali, as Matt mentioned, they're kings and queens of the canyons, the top predator, except may for the mountain lion or bobcat. So, how about the rest of you? Do you have coyotes too?

Rocky the Swift 1 2

So now I'm the carer of a grounded Swift (not a raptor as I previously thought). I also learned that because of their wing span and short legs, they can't actually get airborne once on the ground. Rocky here, is about two weeks old, and came into my care 2 days ago, on the 30th July. He's not big enough to fly yet, weighing in yesterday at 28 grams. Being an insectivore, I was worried about how I could possibly feed him enough. Some websites swear you should never feed a Swift anything other than a gourmet-mix of flies and crickets. I will add these when I can catch them, but I found some food mix at a local pet shop which says it is for insectivores, even though it i…

Songs About Rain - Wanna Play? 1 2

Based on John's "Songs About Time" - I was in Hilo a week ago and a local radio station played songs about rain all day - and it rained almost all day. I didn't know there were so many. To grow palms we need time, rain, and perhaps the next one can be about sun (or did we do that one already), of which there are also many. But I don't think we'll find many about soil or fertilizer. I'll start with one from a different era, with much different music.

Why the Username? 1 2
by Xerarch- 61 replies

I have wondered at times what some usernames or avatars mean and why people would pick any given one, some are palm related, some are funny, some are enigmatic, so I thought I'd start a topic where we can share what our names mean if desired. We'll start with mine, you'll recognize the prefix "xer" in a number of words, xeriscape, xeric, always words having to do with being dry or desert. I was born in the State of Utah, the second driest state in the union (behind Nevada), thus, I am a Xerarch, which is a person or thing from a dry or desert place. My avatar is a picture taken in Zion national park, UT, IMO one of the most beautiful places anywhere and a remind…

Howdyall: I'ts time to go 'puter shopping again, and I noted that there's boxes in the stores with several hundred times the memory of my old dinosaur for a realtively reasonable price. They all appear to run Windows Vista, which, I recall got off to a rocky start, and, I'm told by IP folk still has some compatibility issues with XP, my present op sys. I will be using the machine for both work and fun, and th eoffice in the Dark Tower has XP, at least for now. So, ya'll whaddya know? Share, please? Am I hallucinating? If not, recommendations? (I haven't bought a computer yet.)
