Well I thought it time to make my move in the old ohanna Nouie nouii, oh baby, I gotta go. Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi Nouie nouii, oh baby, I gotta go. So what's some music you've heard lately you like, that's at least new to you ? For me, it's Bryan Ferry's album "Dylanesque". Excellent covers of the man, especially "Simple twist of fate" and "All along the watchtower". Another is Bob Schneider, some great songs by this guy. What's got your attention music lovers ?

Every once in awhile, I like to pause and consider the phrases that I unconsciously sputter while searching for the right words. Annoying phrases tend to accumulate like lint, and it's important to recognize them and purge them from my vocabulary periodically. I stumbled upon this list, and concede guilt to all but abomination #8. Note that this is a British source; certainly we Americans have some foolishness of our own to add. For now, I'll just past the article and list, but perhaps I'll add a few of my own later, and I hope you will also. Wonder what pets everyone has. My choice might not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly my wife dislikes him immensely but I love my south west Australian carpet python.

Where we live 1 2 3
by bgl- 112 replies

I should begin with a brief explanation. The “we” in “Where we live” refers to all of us here on PalmTalk, not me and my family personally. “Community” is an interesting concept. When I grew up in Malmö, Sweden, the only community I knew was my city, and in particular Kirseberg, the section in the city where my family lived. We lived in an apartment on the second level in a three story building, and we knew all our neighbors. Immediately below our apartment was the grocery store, so needless to say they knew me and I knew them. I also knew the people at the post office, about half a mile away, because of all the international (aviation related) mail that I received whe…

Coming sea level rise to Florida Keys 1 2 3

Just stumbled upon this article yesterday. I lived in Key West, curtesy of Uncle Sam, from June of 1970 to July 19, 1971, while serving in the US Navy. What a great duty station back in the day. When the base maintenance workers would trim the coconut palms they would give us all the nuts we wanted. http://news.yahoo.com/florida-keys-prepare-sea-level-rise-083635582.html

There are now an estimated 150,000 Pythons in the Florida Everglades http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090528/od_nm/...rglades_pythons Yikes, I hope they at least eat the Iguanas. Burmese pythons get to 15 ft long & fast! They eat mammals as large as a deer, live 25 years & poop like a horse. Oh great.

Who's resisted going on Facebook and why? 1 2 3

BS man's comment in response to another post, somewhat articulated my concerns about not participating in Facebook. I fear yet another time-wasting engine, to add to the others. . . . . While I am a member now, Ive not participated at all. The way the site changes all the time, and the battles over privacy settings make me nervous. Thoughts, anyone?

The Stock Picker's Game - Week 5 1 2 3
by Dypsisdean- 93 replies
OK - as planned, this is the last week of the game. If anyone else wants to keep it going, bring it back later, or tweak/improve it a bit - feel free. I'll still come up with a pick. So come on you guys - last chance to make a pick (for now). I got the idea for the game by trying to focus the attention away from the hour by hour, blow by blow scrutiny of the market in favor of a longer perspective. But as can be seen, even making money by taking a weekly approach is very difficult. I've stayed with EZJ all month with the intention to hopefully show what an even longer term strategy might produce. I took a lot of grief from one player with the choice, and had a few bad …

Apple quarterly earnings report 1 2 3

I think it will be better than expected, but not good enough to change the general sentiment. I think things will turn around when they release some new products, whenever that may happen. Still holding to my previous predictions . Also, for the stock gurus on palmtalk. How high can tesla actually go near term? Every time I think it should have topped out, it keeps rising. I was kicking myself when it got to $60 thinking I missed the boat and did not go in on any. Same thing when it got to $90. Now, a few months later, its at ~$120......

Building my new house 1 2 3
by bgl- 89 replies

After buying my two new acres on Pomaikai Street here in Leilani Estates in early December 2010, and then partly clearing them, I have been busy both planting palms there and more recently finally getting around to weed control. And about eight months ago I began designing my new house. When I had the design ready I hired a draftsperson, who created the plans, which were then checked and stamped by an architect. Next step was to find a contractor. That's an important job, and anyone who has ever built a house will know ALL about that. I ended up hiring Kevin Gardner, who built my "old" house 15 years ago. A house that I had also designed. Kevin is an excellent builder a…
