Pets With Benefits

I was inspired by this thread to make this post. Today I cleaned out my main chicken coop. I've mention before that I compost my paper waste using chicken manure for a nitrogen source. First I arranged some cinder blocks into a square. I then empty a bag or two of shredded paper, old napkins, tissues, torn paper, etc into my wheelbarrow and add some chicken/coop waste and mix; dump in into the square. Repeat until the coop is cleaned, then add water. Tomorrow I'll add some oak leaves and kitchen scraps, then mix. As the temperatures warm, the soldier flies will become active and I'll add more cardboard to the pile. The soldierfly larva will…

Hello!
by tarnado- 0 replies

Hello everyone! I'm new hear so I just wanted to drop a line and say that I am very hopeful and happy to be part of this community. I'm fairly mad about plants in general, but we moved to an island in the Puget Sound (Washington State). My spouse turns to me, *out of the blue,* and says: "You know, now that we live on an island, I think we could get some palms and things like you wanted [when we lived on the mainland]" I am NOT going to let this chance pass me by So now I'm ready to go completely bananas (so to speak) with some colder-hardy palms and the wild world of hybrids!

Wonder what pets everyone has. My choice might not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly my wife dislikes him immensely but I love my south west Australian carpet python.

Different kind of air purifier
by JohnAndSancho- 7 replies

https://algenair.com/ A guest saw all the plants in my office window, and told me about these. He asked me if I had all the plants to clear the air and provide oxygen - sure that's a benefit, but it's mostly for the vibes. Anyway, at $250, plus monthly refills, it's probably not for me. But still kinda neat.

I have seen some user names from a boating website I frequent, the Hull Truth. One member here has confirmed, but how many others are here and also there? I am Dan Halen on the hulltruth.com. I just wonder how many people share more than one hobby and use the same forums?

Falling palm leaves on renters car
by Jastin- 3 replies
I’m about to rent out my palm jungle home and am wondering if anyone knows the laws in california for falling leaves. I have a 30’ royal next to my driveway that drops leaves 1-2 times a year in the driveway. I have others that are self cleaning. I keep up with them all the time, the trees are healthy, but it’s nature and it’s how they grow. Am I responsible if something from my renter gets damaged?

Turf Grass

In showcasing our palms, it necessary to provide proper accent plants and even a nice carpet below our feet when walking in the landscape. In my area, the older properties had centipede installed, which I actually prefer. It's a bit complicated to maintain as it doesn't go truly dormant in the winter. New residential properties use Bermuda and some of the better commercial properties use Zoysia. Both of these go dormant and so, one can use stronger weed-killers in the off season. Also, they're more aggressive runners so they mend themselves better. I was reading on-line that many areas out west are beginning to ban artificial turf (Astroturf). These were popular…
