Last week after 2 weeks in Phuket Thailand for rest, relaxation and recovery we headed to Singapore for 4 days. 2 of the 4 days I spent at the recently opened "Gardens By The Bay", I enjoyed this remarkable, stunning creation so much more than I anticipated, I will for sure travel back in a few years to marvel at the growth of all the newly planted palms and to stare and enjoy the well over ONE MILLION Bromeliads that are everywhere. There are around 10 massive Tree like steel structures that have Bromeliads attached all over them. Two of these structures are connected by a Sky Walk to each other, I would guess these walkways are easy 40 meters high, its an "Awesome" …

Hi Ya'll. I'll start off with Bill (BS man about thorns), conquering the Phoenix dactylifera. Bill was lookin for dates here and in the LA Xpress. ::

"Jardin Majorelle" Marrakech - Morocco

Hi folks This summer I visited Marrakech (Morocco) for the thirth and consecutive year and finally made it to the famous Majorelle garden! This garden was created by the painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962) in forty years and was afterwards also bought by the well know fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent. It isn't that big but the small and shade lanes, the ridge and well maintained collection and the typical "majorelle-blue" colored buildings make the visite worth while!

19 F (-7.222 C) at the Big H
by Alberto- 36 replies

The Huntington took a hard hit. As soon as I saw the oleaners in the parking lot that had been frozen, I knew they'd gotten down to at least 18-19 F for at least one night. The big palms had little or no damage, but these recently planted Caryota gigas were a different story.

After almost 4 years of living here in lovely San Diego, I have finally visited the San Diego Zoo! I was bit by the palm bug about a year ago when a friend began touring me around nurseries and gardens. I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of palms at the Zoo along with the cycads, a few bananas and all the beautiful flowering trees! I was so excited! So now I am sharing my view of the Zoo with all of you. I hope you enjoy my pictures as I have enjoyed all of yours. Keep in mind I am not a photographer! :mrlooney: Stay Palmtabulous! AKA Fabulous http://gallery.me.com/salvades#100044

3/24/07 PSSC Meeting

Hey yaalllllll! Sorry for the retarded topic title. (Mod edit: I fixed it) Don't know why that happened but it's probably Paul's fault. I know I'm late but I've been so busy and I've got so many pictures I've wanted to share. We left for our vacation to Hawaii the day after the last PSSC meeting and I almost forgot to post my pictures. Here's a few just for the fun of it. Paul, Kim and myself carpooled to conserve gas. There's been some recent discussion about this tree lately on the forum: Mindanao Gum tree (Eucalyptus deglupta). Inside the conservatory.

A BIG ranch in Escondido, California

I had occasion to work at one of the original "Rancho's" in So Cal some months back and intended to post these, but never got around to it. I think the caretakers (Its owned by "the corporation" in Scotland) said it was about 19 square miles? For those of you locals, its Rancho Guiejito and it is the "east" end of Escondido and stretchs from a mile or two south of Lake Wohlford to the back side of the Wild Animal park.

Jeff, I just wanted to say thanks for the tour of your nursery & your awsome garden at your house. Your hospitality was upstanding. I'm still blown away by all those crazy Dypsis you have . I plan on collecting more. Maybe we can get JD or Ryan to post some photos. If anybody is in Jeff's neck of the woods, you must see his place. He is a walking book of palm knowledge. Thanks again Jeff.

A big, PSSC Thank-You! to Messrs. De Jong and Luna! 1 2

As you know, a PSSC meeting and garden tour were held at the San Clemente gardens of Bob de Jong (pogobob) and Rick Luna, in alphabetical and visiting order, on Saturday, Novemeber 20, 2010. Both gardens are in San Clemente, way down south in farthest OC, right before you cross over in SD. Say you, say me, say for always, it's so palmeee . . . . Neither garden is very large, but, well, jewel boxes aren't large either, but you still love the jewels. These gardens have no equal for large New Caledonian palms, in their marvelous coastal climate. As Paul and Terry noted, a very large crowd showed up in spite of rain (Guada La Habra was pouring cats, dogs, and preh…
