Each city will have its own post, these posts will include the average times between different strengths and the next time that area should be affected. I can only obtain data for large population centers or coastal towns/cities such as Miami, FL or Galveston, TX.

Not sure if any of our fellow weather nerds had heard but looks like the extremely popular Cat. 6 Weather Blog over on Weather Underground has been ended by the corporate powers that be over there.. Pretty sad to read this earlier this afternoon.. That said, both Jeff Masters, who originally started the blog, known as "WunderBlog" back in the day, and his frequent co- pilot / contributor of blog articles, Bob Henson will be starting a new blog over called "Eye on the Storm" over on Yale Climate Connections site.. so no, their great articles won't come to an end. Looks like the heat is returning, with a vengeance here ..and across a good chunk of the Southwest/ CA over the next several days. A rainy day in Daytona Beach- video

There's several more days of rain expected . I've had about 5.6" here since last Friday , including one burst of 3.2" in a little over one hour . That caused some localized flooding here in Holly Hill . During that one , some water got into the garage , which unfortunately sits below the elevation of the house and driveway . Here just north of Pensacola, FL we experienced some pretty big floods yesterday. Up to 5+ inches of rain fell over my area in under 2 hours yesterday. I have some pics of the flooding in my front yard in which was passed on to the NWS Mobile, AL. Before i upload the pictures i have to download them on my computer so it will be a bit. The flooding may not look bad to you, but i live on the highest point in my neighborhood so this is usually not a big problem.

Some photos of the garden on what's been a near perfect early Summer's day. High of around 24C (75F), and not too humid. Been quite a bit of rain in the past two weeks so everything is growing like mad. Wintered over the banana trunk and one leaf with some polyester frostcloth, which allowed it to take off again since September. This trunk has been going since November 2016 so must flower soon. R. I took a trip down to Pensacola Beach yesterday ane picked up about 6 sabal seeds, i dont want an overload of sabals, but i need some tips on how to do this. I also bought another queen, almost all strap leaf, first frond with pinnate leaf is coming in. Ill have pics of both here in the next hour or so.

Florida is in a drought!

Almost all of the state of Florida is in a drought now. The drought is only getting worse as burn bans are put in place not long ago. My queens are doing fairly well but i have noticed a bit of yellowing lately on the tips. Likely from being so dry, i have tried to water it everyday but sometimes i cant. They are still trucking along though after a warmish winter for this area. How is your area doing? I do know that digging a hole is worthless here in the panhandle at this point. We need a good washout!

Anyone else noticed how dry and hot it’s been in Florida recently! I’m in sw/ central coastal Florida I don’t remember last time we got a beneficial rain or even a cloud in the sky for that matter. 10 day forecast not a chance of rain all sunshine with temps in upper 80. I know all the talk is about this terrible virus right now but have the feeling going to be a very tough wildfire season. Usually summer rains don’t arrive round my area till mid june being close to coast any storms form more inland.

Here just northeast of Pensacola, FL, i am very impressed with how winter 2019-2020 turned out. Our lowest low was 23 degrees based on data from NAS Whiting Field. We did have several nights in the low to mid 30s with some nights dipping into the upper 20s, only one time did it ever drop below 25 degrees. The average minimum temp for the month of January was 45 degrees, and the average maximum temp for the month of January was 64 degrees. Correct me if im wrong but we had a 9a winter up here this year!

According to my weather station, the coldest it got was 24.1ºF on the night of this past Thursday. Thanks to my microclimate, we stayed a few degrees warmer than what was reported from downtown and near the airport.

This should probably not be within this section of discussing palms, but this is where most people are looking. As you all know, a tornado struck the great Music City on the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 3rd. This same tornado moved on to mostly rural areas of Tennessee, such as Smith and Putnam Counties. I know the area of middle Tennessee and have been to some of the places hit. Multiple people are still missing from this event, and i am deeply saddened to hear the number of people who are no longer alive. I just want to hear people's thoughts on weather stations. I've been through about 4 in the last 5 years. They never last for me. The best was 21 months before the outdoor sensor went crazy and started showing 38C at midnight. Really disappointed as I paid a few hundred dollars for it. What are people using and are people happy with the performance? Particularly interested in ones that have lasted at least 5 years.

In South Florida, we are enjoying what is likely our last cool breeze. That stated, it is possible to now look back on the Winter of 2019/2020. In this area, it has been exceedingly warm. Using the Trewartha climate classification system, the designation Tropical (A) applies to climates in which all 12 months average 18 degrees C. or 64.4 F. This is the norm here but this year has exceedingly warm. Specifically, the following constitute the average temperatures for what constitutes our Winter.
