Another fix of palms for the Garden this time a Mauritia flexuosa pinanga distichia lanonia centralis Socrates rostrata a rothmania longifolia a philodendron hybrid Jerry Horne and some cycas species silver form seeds some real winners in there for the garden the standard treatment awaits them winter protection for two seasons giving them some time to develop more roots then planted in the ground although I don’t think the pinanga will go in the ground pushing the palm limits with that one

Some New Weed Seeds

So my next-door neighbor recently drove to visit her parents in Homestead, FL and I took care of watering and mowing while she was gone. She came back last night with some seeds from a family friend's property! Two of them had roots coming out and they got potted up. I ran out of sand so I need to get some more later today - is that the best medium to use? I'll be planting them out at a rental property near Harlingen, TX in the spring.

Some nice Phoenix roebelenii hybrids; P. roebelenii x ???
by Eric in Orlando- 27 replies
- 3.2k views
These Phoenix palms are growing at the front of a large wholesale nursery just east of Eustis, FL (about 34 miles NW of Orlando). There are planted with some Phoenix roebelenii specimens. These hybrids most likely have P. roebelenii as a parent but not sure what else is crossed in. The P. roebelenii have some cold damage from this past Jan ,they probably had 26-27F in that area. But these hybrids had no damage. They are great specimens.

Some night shots

Hi folks, Take one step forward if you missed me. Come on, don't everyone step back and leave Dean alone. Okay, I've been busy, aren't we all, the drought is terrible here and I have lost some precious ones to the dry. My network connection is on slow mode owing to my voracious appettite for downloading ranch hand movies. I finally dusted the camera and took some night shots of my Latania garden near the back deck. I call it the latania garden because there's two big latanias but in the photo you'll see the Chammy plumosa and hyophorbe bottle x spindle. More photos soon, with some Archo cunninghamianas in habitat from the town of bangalow.

I just stopped by Phil's the other day at Jungle Music. [Good seein' you Phil] I picked up a nice 3 gallon cyphosperma balansae (probably his last one at this size) Definitely my all time favorite palm. And also a Ravenea sp. He was suprised that I found one at this size. We had no idea what it is or what it will look like. Jesse did show me a Ravenea "Angora" in a 15 gallon pot and it had shiny leaves, that was cool! But this one doesn't. (Sorry for the poor quality pic)
