Show me your Arenga engleri plantings! 1 2

I have two 3 gallon Arenga engleri I've been raising for a few years since they were small seedlings. I'd like to put them in the ground now. I can't decide where they'd look best. I think I prefer the look of them grown in some shade, reaching and greener, rather than the squat, tightly growing specimens grown in full sun. Please share photos of how you've planted your dwarf sugar palms. I'm open to stories and advice too

Dooms Dave inspired me to start a thread about posting your biggest root ball or your palm trans plant. Here are a few pictures I took today of a massive jubaeopsis caffra I'm having dug and craned to my Vista garden project. I'll post pic's when She's planted in her new hole. it took 4 guys total to did this monster out I'm guessing the root ball weighs almost 1 ton this bad boy will be craned in the next couple of days. The root ball is solid and 5' W X 4' D If you have any palms that you have dug or transplanted post your picture and tell us how it did?

This is my Cyrtostachys renda var. "Apple Form" in South Florida, it's been in the ground for about 3 years and is doing great. It is already starting to show the stripping and color variations. Anyone growing these or if you have more info you can share. Does the coloring get more vibrant as it gets older? I would love to see your palm and its progress. Alex B.

So the wife says I have TOO many palms in the backyard and wants me to place some palms in the front yard now. She wants me to upgrade the mailbox and the area around it, and I wanted to add some palms with the upgrade. Please give me some ideas of palms that you think would look good here. This area gets LOTS of shade (photo taken at 11:00am today) and you can see my USDA Zone and other related growing facts in my signature. If you have palms around your mailbox please post up some pictures so I can get some ideas!!

This is a magnificient Palm indigenous to the Japanese islands of Ryukyu near Okinawa. It supposedly is somewhat similar to Coconuts in it's climatic requirements. This specimen is an old and big one that I suspect was planted around 1947 at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm: I think they keep the lighting on this Palm year round: Who is growing this Tropical Palm and can they be grown in California, Brisbane, Perth, Andalucia, Greece and all the other usual suspects.

I acquired two of these back in May of 2017 thanks to @Ken Johnson Just wanted to show how great they look. Flanking a Pritchardia Pacifica. Only planted 3 months before hurricane Irma but did quite well. One was tilted a bit and slowed it's growth but is just fine. The bottom 2 photos show this one. It was the taller of the 2 at the time. They were planted as trunking specimens. I would say their growth rate is slow to moderate. Look closely and you can see how close the rings on the trunk are compared to the older rings. Planted in mostly full sun on the north side of my house. Just some extra Winter shade as the sun is more southerly. Not fast growing by an…

Got this idea from @Justin31703’s Coccothrinax forum, decided to do it with the beautiful Pseudophoenix species of Palm. Some photos of adult Pseudophoenixs would be amazing since their extremely slow growing. I have three in my yard in Maricopa AZ, but they’re all really small. Here’s my largest one.

Please post pictures of your trachys. It's taken a while for me to get deeper into trachycarpus but I've finally come around, I had to throw overboard my own cold hardiness snobbery to finally fall in love with this genus of palms. The only trachy I owned until recently was t. martianus "Khasia Hills" and I have to say it's one of the most tropical looking fan palms I have and stops everyone in their tracks. Most are surprised when I tell them it's a trachy. I've since added a few princeps, a nova, a couple of true takils, a latisectus and the nepal form of the martianus. The princeps are literally blue-green tops with some white on top and totally white underneat…

Time to show some spiny palms! If you've got an inclination to be clumsy, these are not the palms you want to be around with a possible misstep. Even if you don't care much for the needles, most spiny palms are just so beautiful. Here are a few with most of them planted around the margins of the garden or in the open space behind. The palms you have that even make non palm people go, wow what's that? I have a couple but will start with this fine Caryota obtuse. It's in my front so it gets a bit more people traffic. Hard to get the scale of this beast in the picture but's it a monster. So what's your show stopper?

Show us why you love your Dypsis 1 2 3

Despite living in a less-than-ideal place to grow almost any of the dypsis species, I have come to really appreciate this genus. Being relatively new to the palm world, I don't have much to show, but here is why i love the dypsis (dypses? dypsises?) This is my small, 1-gallon prestoniana. I bought it from Jeff Searle in October, and shipped it all the way back to myself here in CA. Since then, it's been pretty much faring for itself through our cold winter nights (including many nights in the low 30s). It is a little beat up, but despite all the odds being against it, it has not stopped pushing new growth, albeit slowly. Today I noticed the salmon-colored accents on…

Show Us Your Archontophoenix! 1 2 3 4

I love Archontophoenix palms, and I am sure many of you do too. I couldn't find an Archontophoenix specific thread, so I thought I'd make one in hopes of people showing off their Archontophoenix palms, any species! Here is my Archontophoenix cunninghamiana, which has been thriving for me indoors and outdoors (when its warm and sunny enough, like today). It's small, but is growing quickly. I am surprised at how much it seems to not care about being in cooler conditions.
