   Repotting a Phoenix canariensis

   Hi everyone. I've had a phoenix canariensis (attached is some pics) for just over a year now. I put it in what I think may of been a too narrow pot. I've noticed it's started to have some browning of the lower fronds. Also there is a root starting to grow out the bottom of it. My questions are should I repot in larger container?, can I repot in now in October i( I live in the UK so it's starting to get colder or should I wait till spring or does it matter ?

   Hi Everyone! My sons roommate left this behind and he knows how much I love plants. I couldn’t pass this one up so I’m trying to bring it back before it’s gone. Any suggestions on how to get it to come back. I trimmed the brown off some of leaves. Repotted it and watered it 2 weeks ago tomorrow. The soil is still wet in some places according to my water meter stick after 2 weeks!!! I used Miracle Grow cactus, Palm citrus potting mix, orchard bark and perlite. I have a afternoon south facing sun and I cut off one of the limbs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

   Yellow washingtonia filifera

   I have two Washingtonia Filifera palms in pots and both of them started turning yellow after their third leaf emerged. All leaves old and new started turning. I didn't change anything or add any sort of fertilizer. Potting mix was pertlite/peat only. They get plenty of sun. Is this an indication I need to fertilize?

    Christmas palm transplant shock?

    I live in Maryland and I just transplanted this Christmas palm about a week ago. I’ve been leaving it outside because it’s been in the 70’s during the day and 50’s at night. Also it has been getting pretty direct sunlight. Is this transplant shock and if so, is there anything I could do to help it?

    Hi everyone. I recently adquired my first palm ever . I picked a Washingtonia. Unfortunately I'm just a newbie and don't want my palm to have a bad time. I would like to know the essentials for keeping my palm healthy, how much should I water, what to keep an eye out for.     Hi I'm a new majesty palm owner. I've had this for about 2/3 weeks and have been watering every week and a half. The palm is in the shade with a south facing window. Anyways.     Areca Palm Struggling Indoors

    I have this Areca palm that was kept outdoors last summer in Illinois, USA. It did well and was repotted in August 2022 into a very large pot, maybe 18” diameter and 20” tall. Once the temperature started dropping in October 2022, it was brought indoors for the winter. It has been watered every 10-14 days, and given Palm Tone fertilizer twice since then, once in winter and once recently The leaves have some discoloration, which I think is just old leaves that need to be trimmed. The color looks alright, not great. But I am concerned because it shot out a new leaf a few weeks ago, but it hasn’t opened up yet. Any help would be appreciated! I think the weathe…

    Piggybacking off of a thread from the main forum. Can soil drain _too_ well? I expect it from the soil-free medium my L. Weddelaniums are in (US version of the @Pal Meir mix) - but the majority of my palms are in a ballpark 50/40/10 mix of cheap garden soil/Repti Bark/LECA now. My outdoor palms are cool as the other side of the pillow, growing and vibing hard. I do worry about my Kentias though since I've killed so many - I've literally misted them and watched water come through to the saucer. As a counterpoint, I just had to move my spindle palm to the patio due to fungus gnats - I threw some Mosquito Dunks in the soil, threw it in the shower to wash the bac…

    Hi, I've had that palm for about 3 months. A few fronds starting to brown as Spring is moving to Summer (Boston, Ma - USA). I water once to twice per week until the water runs into the overflow dish. Medium is a sandy dirt; I repotted from nursery when purchased (3 months ago).     Windmill Palm in pot in shock?

    Hi everyone, I have been looking at the forum for a while now and just joined. I live in zone 7B in NC. I recently bought my first windmill palm and fan palm. My windmill is in a pot and I’m getting concerned about some spots and overall look of the palm. It was in a 3 gallon container when I bought it. I used well draining soil and added permatill. These are my first two palms. My fan palm seems to be doing great while my windmill is getting some yellow and brown spots as you can see in pictures. I am following the water schedule the nursery gave me. I also noticed a massive ant population and tiny red bugs that look very similar to clover mites which I have never had…

    Hi everyone, Hoping to start my palm tree-growing journey within the next few weeks. Being in a cooler climate I understand the importance of purchasing a heating mat. I am just wondering if anyone has any safety tips? I am sure they are not too fire-prone but just want to take the proper precautions as I have already experienced a house fire in my lifetime (Christmas morning 2009) and wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.     Rhapis chlorosis in full sun pool area

    I maintain a number of large Rhapis excelsa in containers in pool lanais, pool decks and porches. I have no issues with any of them except four plants located in large stoneware pots on a paved pool deck growing in full sunlight. They’ve been in place for nearly a year and we’re doing well until we had two cold spells here in central Florida back in late December/early January. Since then the existing foliage has become severely chlorotic (almost white) and the new foliage that is growing in now is doing the same.
