I will be taking a trip from Atlanta down to Tarpon Springs, mainly along I75. Any nurseries along the way that sell S.minor or S.repens? Trip is early September.

Good vibes to all of y'all that grabbed tickets. Just hugged all of my palms that are tall enough to hug. Good vibes that we don't have to work anymore and we can focus on palmy love.

Hello: I would like to use this space to bookmark websites that are useful for identifying and studying regional soil types for experimentation with new seedlings in pots. For me it is as easy as finding the palm distribution (thankfully Palmpedia has many listed very specifically) and then finding an appropriate scientific source (usually a govt agency of the country) to pinpoint the type of soil in that area. Today I am potting up: Livistona drudei Habitat: Kurrimine to Townsville QLA, dry side of coastal mangroves, near streams and plains. source Soil types: Dermosol / Sodosol / Hydrosol Queensland soil map

Dying Areca Palm

Hi everyone, I’ve had my Areca palm for nearly 2 weeks now and I’m lost. Since the second day being here it has just declined. the leaves at first started becoming brittle and dry and now a lot have brown and yellow spotted leaves. I watered when the soil dried out, I have misted to add humidity and allowed it to get a good amount of indirect light. The palm is leaning so I tied some string round the stems to try and keep it up right. I have trimmed some of the dead leaves and stems at the base but am now worried this is worse for the plant. I had a look at the roots and they look ok, slightly brown in some areas but the nurser…

Just some of my stock i have been growing in the hothouse pretty well much germinated at least 95 percent of what’s growing in there growing from seed has greater rewards then buying seedlings for me at least it’s fun a lot cheaper and keeps you learning new techniques and basically fun watching something you have germinated grow up and get planted in the garden or be sold to another gardener it’s one great hobby that gives such great rewards

Hi! My palm frond recently developed a large yellow patch that seems to be spreading. I am currently assuming it is related to fertilizer burn since I put a teaspoon of sulpomag into the soil a week ago. Any other thoughts as to what else maybe the cause? My last application of sulpomag (also a tsp) was at the end of March, so I staggered my applications by about 7 weeks.

Anyone noticed any positives using Biochar in your potted palms? I would Imagine fertilizing would not be nearly as frequent.
