Searle Brothers Nursery, Inc. & The Rainforest Collection ® presents... The 20th Annual Spring Plant Extravaganza! Those with plants in heart and mind do so with both the new species we discover and the tried-and-true plants we rely upon. Last years fall plant sale season was close in time to Irma's impact, thus leaving the upcoming Spring season to supply the material needed to fill that hole in the yard, the spot in the garden and the loss in the collecti…

Searle Brothers Nursery, Inc. & The Rainforest Collection® presents... The 21st Annual Fall Plant Extravaganza! October 4th, 5th, 6th, – 11th, 12th, 13th 2019 The fall planting season is here once again and along with it, the ever-constant familiarity with living in the world of tropical storms. I hope this topic finds you free of damage and storm-related consternation. I am still unloading plants from storage and helping others with their shutters, while eating what perishable hurricane ‘stress’ food is still left. At least I got a lot of emergency weeding and trimming done. Besides the threat of wind and storm su…

Faulkner's Palms will now be offering fresh seeds from Florida and around the world as part of the business. So often I found in the United States that there was not one place to get a bunch of different species of palm seeds. Fresh seeds are key to getting good germination, so here is a list of what we have to start, and it will only build from here. Prices are 25/$10 or 100/$20 plus shipping unless otherwise noted. Also, if you would like to get three species of 25 each, that would also be $20. You can contact me here, or email me at faulknerspalmsllc@gmail.com. Check my Facebook business page for weekly updates on new seed availability. Also note - we ship inte…

Sabal palmetto Lisa seeds for sale
by PalmatierMeg- 22 replies
- 27.8k views
You know you want them. Finally, I have them: seeds of the fabulous, rare and spectacular mutant Sabal palmetto Lisa. In November my husband and I trekked over to the Ft. Myers palm park with a tarp and long poles to harvest ripe seeds. I spent many hours hand cleaning them and days drying them. They are ready for their close-up. Sabal Lisa was described in 2006 and named for the discoverer's wife. Only a handful of this mutant palm have been found in S. FL. Seeds for sale are from the smaller of two Lisas that used to be on opposite sides of an I75 exit and now are safely planted in Ft. Myers. The larger palm is now too tall to access and the smaller one will be also in …

The cold has come and gone, (hopefully) and its time to get busy planting again... Searle Brothers Nursery, Inc. & The Rainforest Collection® presents... The 11th Annual Spring Weekend Plant Extravaganza! Many of us in Florida will remember this winter for a long time, I know I certainly will. For what seemed to be one day of barely tolerable cold was replaced the following day with an even worse brunt of colder weather. I know the extremes experienced here were surpassed by those further up the coast, it is a common trend for tropical plant enthusiasts to bond together in times of difficulty. Speaking on behalf of myself and many others, I kno…

Sabal gretherae seedlings - 2 only
by PalmatierMeg- 6 replies
- 17.3k views
Sabal gretherae is native to the NE tip of Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It was described in 1991 and is considered the rarest Sabal in the world. It just recently entered cultivation. I germinated seeds of this palm a year ago. I don't have room for every palm on my property and need to find new homes for two of them. I have found this palm to be robust and relatively fast growing for a Sabal - the two strap leaf seedlings I have for sale are outgrowing their 1g pots. I'm not sure of this species' coldhardiness but my unprotected seedlings saw an ultimate low of 34F and other nights in the 30s with no damage so I suspect they are hardy to zone 9, perhaps lower. S. grether…

Thrinax radiata collected this past week. While some palms produce seed year round this palm produces once a year so the next batch won't be till this time next year. Fresh seed for 10 other types of palms collected the past week or two. Thrinax radiata is a native FL palm. Good seed for novices at germination. These seeds are picked when ripe before dropping, cleaned of the fleshy fruit, and are ready for germination. This is a zone 10A or warmer palm outside and can be used as a potted plant in cooler climates. This is a smaller palm when mature as seen in the pics.
