Hey all, I wanted to revive the 'your photography thread' so that everybody can share their photographs, non-palm related, well for the most part. I went on a recent trip to Berlin, Prague, and Vienna, and took a enormous amount of pictures, mostly snapshots, and done somewhat sloppy. Well here we go annihilation camp - berlin same camp famous building in berlin, like space tower in seattle (or if you have seen bourne supremacy)

Visting Molokai
by palmmermaid- 10 replies

Yeserday in the travel section of our paper there was an article on visiting Molokai. It seems the locals don't want the same kind of commercialism as is on nearby Maui and Oahua and I think they are right. It sounds just like the kind of place and attitude my husband and I like. Has anyone ever visited Molokai? The srticle stated there are only 2 hotels on the island - good news! - and not much night life - even better! It also atated the islanders refused to allow Holland America to dock there - stupendous news!

Counting calories
by metalfan- 30 replies

I was reading an article somewhere recently about how many people who are trying to lose weight get frustrated because they exercise a whole lot, but when they evaluate their food choices, they mainly only look at the amount of fat and/or the amount of carbs contained in the food, not the total calorie intake. Being guilty of this myself, I decided to do an experiment with counting calories. We go to a few "nice" basicly fast food places in town, mainly Chili's and On the Border, maybe once a week because they are kid friendly and I can get meat alternatives. (we never go to MacDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, Wendy's, or anything like that). I usually get one of the main co…

Key West Trivia
by bubba- 17 replies

In the 1800's, Key West had the highest per capita income in the State and maybe the Nation. This wealth was generated by an interesting practice that earned them the name "Wreckers".It seems when they became bored or greedy, they would rope them up a goat(that is for you Steve),dress it up with Chistmas lights and bells and place it on a small atol. The Spanish,British,French or Dutch galleons would mistake the goat for a lighthouse and promptly crash. The locals formed greeting parties, who would rescue the ship dwellers in exchange for their gold bullion and other things of value. They were simply providing a service(rather lucrative)and of course it was considered standard…

Dick, you touched on some topics that I find really fascinating (in the Flying to Hawaii thread), so a new thread seemed in order! Bo-Göran Yes, I believe it's correct that SFO to Hawaii is the longest distance over water anywhere in the world. What I'm convinced they mean by that is that it's the longest over water route without any alternates available. Also, flying from Hawaii, the nearest airport on the mainland is actually SFO. LAX, Seattle and Vancouver are all further away. But if you fly from Hawaii to Seattle and run into problems, you do have SFO as an alternate, which is closer. In the case of HNL-SFO there are no alternates that are closer, so that's prob…
