by Exotic Life- 6 replies

Hi, What do you think of you're april? Give it a number, i give a 9. Our april, was the sunnest ever, was the warmest ever, and also the dryest ever. I have got no rain this whole April! there are also broke a lot day records, because also the almost 30C/86 early in april was on some places never early so warm ... For now records are almost boring! every month is warmer then normal, so a broken record is almost normal I give my april a 9, for may starts also with sun, sun, sun and no rain is coming, so maybe we go the 50 days's dry? We will see Robbin

Warmest winter city/region in southern California
by Sandy Loam- 17 replies

Hello. I am not in California. I am located over here in Florida, but I am trying to figure out which parts of southern California stay the warmest in winter. I'm not talking about coastal areas that never get cold at night, where the daily high temperatures might be 65 F at best. I'm talking about places that might be much colder at night than the coast, but where the warm up is so dramatic by day that by 10:00 or 10:30 am, it's already semi-warm outside. When I look at weather patterns, the only place which really fits this bill in southern California is the strip of warm air that runs from the Mexico border diagonally up the valley surrounding the Salton Sea, per…

Warmest year EVER!

I know there has been a lot of talk about record cold lately, but here are some official statistics for Las Vegas. 2009 was tied for the second warmest year on record. Officially, I think the coldest temperature for Las Vegas this winter is 30 so far. It's been so warm this winter that a couple bananas planted in protected areas have not received any damage. It's looking like we have a chance of having a 9B/10A winter again. 2009 TEMPERATURE (LAS VEGAS) OBSERVED AVERAGE NORMAL* DEPARTURE HIGH 80.7 79.9 0.8 LOW 59.3 56.3 3.0 MEAN 70.0 68.1 1.9 …

The lows and the highs are finally starting to rise in temperature as spring approaches! Today it was 81 degrees F and was sunny, a few of my (non palm) plants are starting to come up. Now the lowest lows are in the high 20s and low 30s. How is your weather?

I read this article and found it pretty sickening. They are about to impose stricter watering restricitions here in St. Pete. I may have to find another hobby http://www.miamiherald.com/news/columnists...ory/936589.html

Watering the garden with HomeKit (for smarthome users)

I installed a micro-drip system from Gardena last week in combination with the Eve aqua. Now the bamboo is watered automatically and it also checks the weather forecast whether it is needed at all. Of course this solution is more expensive than a traditional timer for instance, but it is nice to have it automated so you do not have to keep an eye on it. More for the people that already automated parts of their house. 😇

We are so hosed tonight 1 2 3
by Justin- 93 replies

Unless something miraculous happens this afternoon, I can't fathom how we don't get a hard freeze tonight. As I write this, it's 40 degrees outside, during lunchtime. We had sleet an hour ago. Now, to make matters worse, it is clearing, and we're not supposed to have any cloud cover tonight to hold in all of the "warmth." Fingers crossed.

We broke 70F

While many of you have broken out your sweaters and long pants, down here north of the old Monkey Jungle, we busted 70F for our low temperature. A low of 65F with a high temperature that barely made it to 80F. Also, what seemed like low humidity (probably 65%-70%). Does not take much to make me happy!

We're Toast 35 F @ 5:30pm and NOW the clouds disappear

All day the clouds prevented the sun from reaching the ground minimizing warming. Just as it sets, the clouds disappear. This is going to be one of the coldest daytime highs recorded here since they've been keeping records. I wonder if we'll fall to record low levels tonight....sure seems possible.

We’ve had a bit of rain. 1 2
by Tyrone- 43 replies

This year has been a wet one so far with about 2.5 times the rainfall we had this time last year. On Monday morning my area saw about 55mm of rain fall in 3.5hrs. This made the stream into my property start to flow and all my ponds and dams fill right up and flow into the river nearby. So far at the beginning of May we’ve had our average rainfall to the end of May. I took a few pics.

Has this year had the least amount of hurricanes? I can't recall a year when no hurricanes made landfall in the Southeast. Strong westerly upper winds sheered systems apart this summer. The western Pacific has been very active & another typhoon is slamming into Asia [specifically Japan] tomorrow. BTW, the Southwest monsoon season was one of the weakest ever w/ very low rainfall for Arizona & hardly any rain in California deserts.

All After last week's cold front that sent all of us central/southeasterly Texans into a conniption fit, we have settled back into our "normal" weather pattern: mid-50's during the day, around 40 at night. We had mid-60's and some sun on Sunday; but, it's still too overcast to feed enough of the blue spectrum to the photosensitive cells of my retinal ganglia. This, of course, is keeping my circadian rhythm still quite out of sorts. I'm just glad I'm not like likely to suffer the extreme effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder like those under the great winter blanket of northern latitudes. Anyhow, I'm bored with my weather, and this weather thread for that matter.…

I've often noticed when the southern hemisphere has a hot summer we do too the following year, at least in my area of the country. So NZ & Aussie's how Hot has it been?

Weather guessers

The earlier threads got me wondering if theres some sort of conspiracy amongst weathermen to make global warming in fact be true. so far every "cold" night weve had the weather men have called for 40-42 and every time without fail weve been 3-5 degrees cooler. It meay not be a big deal at 40-37 but 30-27 is a big deal, at least to me. anyway, I know its not my location as for the past few winters its been spot on, never more than a degree or 2 max. Oh well, I guess I just remember reading a few threads earlier this year from FL with similar happenings and thought id vent considering they were predicting 43 last night and i hit 36.9 Maybe I shouldnt pick on the wea…
