Where is the Rainy Season (Florida)? 1 2

I can't remember a dry and cool May...much less late May...in South Florid. Highs have been in the low 80s the past 10 days, with low humidy and of course, no rain other than a few random sprinkles just enough to get the car messy. Even the ocean temps are below average, with all this wind as of late. Does anyone look at the models and that can tell me if and when they are showing and increase in moisture for Florida? I don't see anything on the local 10 day forecast....it seems like we are stuck in a lovely, early Spring pattern which is great however, my tropicals want and need humidity and rain!!

It is predicted to be 34° from Weather.com and 37° from Accuweather. This is the first time I have been predicted below 40. Anyone scared? Me, I am considering getting the family to the bomb shelter and loading it with canned refried beans just in case it is a long one.

European winter 2016/2017 1 2

What will this winter bring in Europe this time? Please post what is happening over at your place this winter. The last few winters were really mild for us here in northern Europe, so hard to get even milder winters. Winter 2013/2014 was even frostfree for me, last two winters had some frosty moments but mostly around -1C for a few hours exept, beside a few nights which were colder. This november has been quite average and had some frost as well, last weekend I recorded -3 and -4 and also this weekend looks a bit frosty. Long term is evolving again to a mild episode with temperatures in the double figures, it is however impossible to beat the last year mediter…

Anyone else DRY while the rest get wet? 1 2

Living in Tampa Bay, we always go through ups and downs when it comes to rains. This winter, I received a bounty, and considering the cold, not when I wanted it. Now that summer has set in, I am missing almost all of the rains. In fact, I will be going out to water after 7pm as things are wilting rather badly. Last Saturday we got 2" in less than hour. Since then, nothing but a few showers and HOT HOT SUNNY. 80F this morning's low, 91F high. When I need it most - I miss it! It thundered every day since Monday, storms were pouring on inland areas and to the east. Now they say "drying up" this week! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH Anyone else go through this? It is so frustrating. Just a 1…

I have lived in both FL and TX for over 5 years each, been all over both states. Have seen what grows in both places, and have studied the climate records for both states. So I have come up with a little comparison between the 2 states. My comparison is what 2 cities/areas are nearly identical or closely match both palm wise and climate wise. See if you agree with my comparisons, or tell me where I am wrong. San Antonio/Houston = Jacksonville. I looked up climate records and did comparisons for averages for SA and Jax. They are nearly identical, about as close as you can get. The average overall yearly temp in SA is 1F higher than Jax. With Summer in SA being …

Hi, Today it's very hot ... it's almost 34 C now (93F), tomorrow it's gonna be unsually hot the sya for the netherlands, the expect 37C (98F). For so far, it's a very hot, sunny and dry summer ! This month we don't have got anay rain yet, also june was dry with 3 day's that we have got some little rain. If this means the world climate is chaning, then i like it very much ! But the farmers here not, they can't give water tot the crops, because every where the water level is to low .. sow a lot of crops is dying or see very yellow. Grassfield, turned totally brown, and tree's losing the leaves to survive ... My exotics love this weather ! Greetz robbin

Thread to talk about the Winter 2015/2016 in all Europe I will maintain updated this thread with temperatures and information about all Europe, via Wetterzentrale and weather.com , anyways, it's very grateful if any other European user enters to tell how it's the Winter in his zone/area/country , mostly because a lot of European users have their own weather stations, recordings, etc... We started the winter of 2016 like in Spring, in almost all south Europe. But, Winter officialy started in 21 December 2015, and the first week and a couple of days of the Winter it was hot in all Europe... In my zone for example we had most days with maximums above 20ºC and unl…

On the interactive USDA map I found a small area that is zone 10a in Louisiana. I know many people disagree with the map, but I just find this interesting. Does anyone know if any coconuts or any other 10a palms or plants in general are grown there? Is it just forest? Take a look.

Huge Storm on the Horizon? 1 2
by happ- 68 replies

It is still several days away but worth noting that a significant change in the pattern for California is starting today with strong onshore flow of clouds and much cooler temps. But the big story is the formation of a massive storm system that "may" give us abundant rainfall out of the tropics starting late in the week and continuing into next week. Here's a segment of the NWS_LA discussion: ..LONG TERM (FRI-MON)...ON FRIDAY A LARGE UPPER LOW MOVES SOUTH OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA AND SETS UP ABOUT 700 MILES WEST OF SEATTLE. THIS LOW THEN SPINS AND WOBBLES AROUND FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS. THE WESTERLY FLOW AROUND THE SOUTH SIDE OF THIS LOW FIRST TAPS INTO A 3000 MILE LONG…

California: Are We Next? 1 2
by happ- 68 replies

There are strong indicators of a major pattern shift starting in about a week. The good news is that significant rainfall may occur. The bad news is that it could be accompanied by an arctic airmass. A combination similar to what has happened in Florida & the South. I am not a weather drama queen waiting for something interesting to finally happen & this "heads up" could easily not pan out either. But who knows? Here are excerpts of discussions among AMS_LA chapter meteorologists [also take a look of Kevin Martin's UJEAS model - the impression is that something wet is about to happen & maybe something "cold" "The strong El Niño (similar to 1992) th…

Weird December... 1 2
by Funkthulhu- 66 replies
- 3.5k views
So, just rounding out Xmas week here in the great plains of Eastern Nebraska. Looking at the projections for next week. December is, so far, weird; even for our standards. The average temperature for the state is (depending where you measure) anywhere from 5 to 15F above normal. It will be at least 45 on Christmas day and the rest of the week tapers off to actually, maybe, give us snow on the 29th. It is currently raining outside... In any other year the amount of precipitation received would have resulted in 8-15 inches of snow a week and a half ago, and likely another 6-10 inches today. But instead we have rain that isn't even really that cold. Serio…

I created my own climate classification map, since I find the majority of the other ones flawed. With the creation of this map, I considered both temperature and flora of a region. Please feel free to add your own 2¢. Cool Temperate Deciduous/Mixed Forest: Cold winter and mild summer climate. Occupies the Northern tier of the country from New England to California. Eastern Section is predominantly mixed while the Western section is more coniferous. Warm Temperate Deciduous/Mix Forest: Cold winter and a hot summer climate. Located south of the cool temperates. More Deciduous than the cool temperates except in Southern NJ, Long Island and in the piedm…

This upcoming January 14-16th event is looking more and more like the December 2022 event. Although along the coast they are predicting rain, we are forecasted to be dry through then. I’m seeing 17-19°F predicted in Central Texas Monday night, currently, but based on the last few years will assume it will drop further. Dallas may see 12°F or lower.
