We followed BS -MAN on a wild chase to Braden(PALMZILLA) and Pogobobs nursery - WOW ,what a transformation an awesome collection of rare desert plants and Cycads :drool:

After Ralph we were picked up by Palmazon - Danny you are a legend and gave us a good tour of a Bromeliad nursery on the way up to Jacks !

Jack has most of his palm planted in geographically represented groups . Lord Howe Island , Cuba etc !

The next day i went to The Huntington gardens

It started to get very hot and we were rescued by Happ (charles)

Happ gave us a lovely tour of the Pasadena area and we then went up to his lovely craftsman home for a palm tour and a coffee.

Then we met Bob (Pogobob and Jennifer ) at San Clemente pier for 3 nights of cooler weather and big Rhopalostylis ! :drool: we stopped by the Purple Rhopy to drool for a little while ! :drool:

At dinnertime PALMCUURY Vince joined us , Vince had a great time and Bob cooked up some Buffalo burgers and we all drank imported beer in the spa under giant Hedyscepe's -

Vince asked Bob if he could have some secret fertiliser and Bob pulled out the rusting bottle caps that are used on the Syagrus Abreojoes ! Ok after breakfast at Pogobobs Pogo and I went for a 2 hr walk into the San Clemente Hills and after i managed to keep up with super fit Bob :blush: we saw an awesome view of Beautiful S.C .

Bob Showed me some of endemic plants including the Rhus integrifolia Lemonade berry .

Salvia apiana California native sage,it has a very nice fragrance and was used by the indians .

After some seed cleaning we went over to Palmcurry,s Vince Bury,s place .

Vince has done an amazing job transforming his hard claypan into a future paradise. His Soil looks like black gold :greenthumb::drool:

and Will make the new garden thrive.

Vince has done some great landscaping with Rocks and a tranquill water feature !

Paul - Ponkelepta picked us up from Seaworld for a BBQ !

What an awesome place it literally looks like a slice of tropical rainforest has been dumped in his yard ,a huge variety of palms,philodendrons and Balinese landscaping for that relaxed tropical vibe .

I hope you got to see all the nice palms and Rhopalostylis on the southwest side of San Clemente, almost to the top of the hills with all the multimillion dollar homes.

The views are breathtaking. And the weekend market is fun too.. sugar shack is fun to hang out and have a great breakfast.

ok now that i am back online we spent Friday night with Randy the Stabilizer on the Yacht !

We spent Saturday ,Sunday night at Manabe lavaka and Matts garden has certainly evolved beyond the sunscorched palms on the hill . What a diverse collection of healthy looking palms ,some quite tropical Spindle , Satakentia looking great .

Every morning the sun lights up Matts Bismarckia like a beam from the Heavens above - see !

Saturday afternoon we went for the most anticipated visit to Gary Levines garden - what an amazing place i almost expected a gunfighter from the wild west t ojump out from those granite boulders .

Too many awesome palms to mention but sorry Danylle i found my other true love - The giant Hedyscepe !

other interesting newer palms were a Jubaea - syagrus R hybrid sure to be a winner !

from a cooler gardeners perspective the Parajubaea collection was jaw dropping , cocoides ,torallyi ,toralli microcarpa ,and Sunkha were all stunning !

It must have been around 85f and sunny @ Gary's place .

We then called in at Torrey Pines so i coul see the world famous golf course and buy my neighbour a few hats !

When we arrived it was like going from West Texas to Ireland in a 40 minute drive the weather was so much cooler around 65-68f and cloudy marine layer allowing the golfers to wear those horrid checkered vests !

My lucky garden Gnome accompanied me once more !
