Yes Dave, Fijian people are usually very polite and friendly especially on Vanua Levu as it is more laid back than our mainland (Island of Viti Levu)
Like most places the country people have a more relaxed vibe than busy city folk.
Glad that you enjoyed your time here and also saw some of the town. Saturday is usually a day for us to stay out of town due to the hustle and bustle.
Most days it is uncrowded and easy.
