Phoenix genus

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

Post 6 is a date palm. Probably CIDP but dont quote me on it. I love those trachies.

Ah, so lucky. All I get when I ride my bike is just some houses, roads, lame perrenial trees, and then 2 fake light up palm trees i can see from my driveway in the summer.... :D

Ahh, I'm 12 so I can't do anything about that atm.... When I'm 16 and working at the new Super Walmart here coming later this summer... I'll be saving up for Cali! Or Arizona, or Nevada, or Florida, or Texas, or just somewhere not Wisconsin.

Ryagra, thanks for the nice photos. As to your palm in post #6, you can easily distinguish Phoenix species from other pinnate palms by the leaflet fold. Where the leaflet is attached to the rachis Phoenix leaflets have an upward fold like the letter 'v' (induplicate). Butia, Jubaea, and nearly all other pinnate genera have leaflets downward folded like '^'. (reduplicate). An easy memory trick,... induplicate leaflets (Phoenix) keep the rainwater IN.
