Paul,

It looks like you went through SLC. Boy are there ar lot of mini jets there now. Thanks for the sights of ND. Even though it is a state that borders on my home land of Montana I have never spent any time there. I always thought of North Dakota as some place you drove through to get to somewhere else.

Yeah, if you "snarked out" this thread you would need a couple days rest. I see why you skipped it.

Since I have a brother that married a Great Falls, Montana girl (same city where Don K. in Manaus, Brazil is from) and they live there and I also have a cousin who lives in eastern N.D. we visited those areas a few years ago. Naturally it becomes much more interesting to visit such places when you know someone there. As this thread is about N. Dakota, I'll only make a comment on it. Found eastern N.D. to be very green everywhere (as even your photos show), lots of mostly quite flat rich agricultural land. People were friendly practical types and I really didn't see any poverty as such anywhere. Pohonkelapa can't be all that bad if he from a place like N. D.!
He probably only moved to CA so he could grow palms . . . or maybe they kicked him out cuz he was too radical for them. Ha ha.
Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).
Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.
Nice sunsets!

So do your nephews call you P-Dog? Uncle Pohonkelapa is a lot to ask. I'm not into bars per-se, but if I were in South Dakota, that Tower bar looks awesome.

Great pics as always Pohonomeister, but I'm just curious, what day was it that you were in the air? The reason I ask is that I was airborne and heard of a possible terrorist attack on another jet where some freaky passenger kept yelling out something very strange every time they hit a little bump. Turns out the guy just kept yelling, " Matty, Matty, Matty......". ? ? ?

Excellent documentary with sustained smiley usage. I don't want to pry or anything, was it a family visit to nor-da-koh-ta ? And, did you start talking funny once you got there ?
