Dear Friends

The play was held in dharma Praksh hall in chennai on 23 Sept 2008.The title of this play is 'Sri Devi Mahathme'.I need not eleborate anything,since like all the Yakshagana Plays its a triamph of good over evil !

I hope you all enjoy the visuals,i had to post this long back but few members have complained that palmtalk has changed were less of palm related information is shared,And all cultural & other informations are shared & Discussed,etc.This had made me think should i post any stills on indian culture & traditions.But since i get PM from members asking for visuals of the rest of the episode that i attended,iam posting for their sake.I doubt wheather i will cover these events this year or infuture.

And the visuals will commence from the next post.

Wild stuff Kris! Thank you for sharing. I actually just went to a play that my friend Ravi Mudiganda did and I it was entirely in Hindi. Quite an experience. The program had a synopsis in english so I could at least know what the scene was about. Your pictures are so vivid and large I feel like I was there.

Lots of color and stuff to look at! It looks like there were no women in this production?

For some reason, I keep thinking its something I would see in a Cheech and Chong movie. :huh:

Dear Bill,yes you are right this concept is followed right from the ancient times.and since these plays are conducted in night time in an isolated grounds.women artist/cast were not used from that day.So traditionally till this day this feature is followed.In all art forms practised in the malabar coast this is a feature.
