Butia yatay

Recommended Posts

Hola amigos :

Hi friends:

I will try, in this post, putting the details about this species that I consider really forgotten

Their beautifully arched leaves, the grizzly green color and the cold resistance transform it into attractiveness exemplary for those areas where the cold punishes.

Pindo,

Thank you for posting your excellent pictures. I also greatly appreciate your translations. I was concerned that I would miss out on a lot of great info in this section being that I only speak English. Not any more.

Thank you again,

Thanks for the great photos and the English translation.

I was interested in the photos of the fruit and seeds (los frutos & las semillas), what I have seen in New Zealand from plants labelled Butia Yatay are much rounder and without the pointed ends.

I think that a lot of what are called Yatay in NZ are capitata.

Thank You for the B. capitata seed photo, Pindo.

I was at the Auckland Botanic Gardens at the weekend. They have palms labelled B. capitata and B. yatay planted.

The seed on both looked similar to the photo you posted of B. Capitata, but the yatay was a larger size.

I hope the translation makes sense! :)

I hope that this will change.
