Found this one on a street corner and was curious what the experts thought about an ID.

The leaves were flat, only on 1 axis, not on multiple axises like a regular s.romanzoffiana

The leaves were also quite a bit darker than the nearby Queen.

overall this tree looks quite a bit different than the queen that can be seen in the bkgrnd.

Thanks

Allen

It looks that it may be S. amara - are there other rarities in the yard? A plant that size would not be cheap, nor is it very hardy to that area.... :o

Great looking palm.  In May some people thought it was S. sancona, some people thought it was just a queen.  There's no way that's just a queen.  Did you enjoy the other palms at that church?

Yes, there are actually other "rarities" on the church property, at least rare to our location.  They have some Dypsis lutescens with 6-8' of trunk, a king palm with probably 10' of wood and a Royal in the back.  The leaflets on this palm are about twice the width of a queen.  I need to go back earlier in the day and take a clearer picture of this thing.

Yes I enjoyed them.

I walked over during lunch yesterday, although i borrowed your pics surgeon :)

they also have a p. silvestris

and a c.mitis in the back as well as a deformed looking

skinny odd ball palm (how about that description!!) about 8'tall  in the very far back but its hard to see through the fence.

also,  as far as cold hardiness, I am really starting to think that this whole island is a micro climate!

or maybe its a huge string of really warm winters.

Ive been here for almost 10 years and I dont think its ever been below 32.  we did have 1 foot of snow 2 years ago @~34 degrees but thats about it...
