I was wondering if any of you are growing this palm and how marginal would you consider it? Also, where can I get seeds? I heard that the government might be controlling the export of its seed but if you guys know anything please let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike.  I've got a few of them growing in containers here in Florida.  They seem to be the most finicky of the Areca species that I'm growing.  I've had a hard time getting the stilt roots to grow to the ground, and they seem to be less tolerant of cold than some other Arecas (but in zone 11 that shouldn't be an issue).  They don't seem to like to dry out at all, but soil must be well drained.  I've grown all of mine in shade.  Check Kapoho or Floribunda for seedlings.

Thanks for the replies guys. Will be looking to plant some once I find some reliable sources of seed.
