Just added some more video to the site.

First is a small clip on Phoenix, Archontophoenix and Trachycarpus. This was made when the ARC (Auckland Regional Council) tried to ban these palms in 2006. P. canariensis is to be banned from 1st July 2010 in Auckland.

The second is a film I shot in May 2009 at Landsendt in Auckland New Zealand. Landsendt is a property owned by the Endt family since 1962, and was used for exotic fruit horticulture for many years. Today it has around 6 acres of Sub-Tropical gardens with a large focus on Palms and Cycads.

Both videos can be viewed here: VIDEOS

The PACSONZ website has just undergone a small overhaul to make way for the changing times.

You will notice the main menus at the top of the page have changed slightly, and are likely to do so further once an online magazine is added. Also many pages regarding membership, meetings, magazine, etc. have been turned off until the future direction of the society is finalised.

The Public Palms and Cycads section has been elevated to the top menus.

Due to the many changes, if you recieve the message below after clicking on a link, please contact me at this address

Please try again later. Thank you."

The Public Palms and Cycads section has been elevated to the top menus

Finally to whet your appetite for Geonoma in the first FREE online edition of NZ Palm & Cycad, please check out the pick of the week.

Cheers,

Got a slight back and neck injury at the moment which has given me time to set up a few new features for the PACSONZ website.

Stay tuned for online magazines! Should have the first one available for download within the next 24 hours for a nominal fee.

I will keep you posted...

The first issue of NZ Palm and Cycad magazine is now available online.

It is issue # 103 A Celebration of Nikau

This issue was completely dedicated to Nikau (Rhopalostylis sapida). It is a great mag covering, forms, seeds, flowers, growing in NZ and overseas, landscaping, shifting Nikau and more.

There is a small fee to help cover costs, etc.

The downloads can be accessed from this link.

Cheers,

Changes are currently being made to the PACSONZ website which may make some links inactive and cause some graphical anomalies. These should only be an issue for the next 2 hours.

Thanks,

O.K. It's finally online. Issue 112 on Trachycarpus.

You can download it by following the links from this page: DOWNLOADS

The pages are about 30% larger for this issue (and all new ones) as we increased the page size of the magazine, so each page has more content.

Cheers,

Michael.

Long time since I posted here. I've been working on a new website (kinda), which basically is an extension of the download website many of you have visited.

The website is a sister site to the New Zealand Palm and Cycad Society and is designed to have plenty of information focussed on Nikau (Rhopalostylis sapida), and to bring as much Nikau content as possible together in the one place.

The website has Magazine downloads, Puzzles, Articles, Photos, Links, Videos and even a shop.

Please come check it out at one of the links below.

http://www.nznikau.com/nikau-info.php'>http://www.nznikau.com/nikau-info.php Info on Nikau

http://www.nznikau.com/ Wecome and Magazine Download Page.

Much more still to be added...

Cheers,

Michael

I have finally got around to adding another Magazine to the www.nznikau.com website.

Hedyscepe and Lepidorrhachis are the main feature of this mag, but it also contains articles on Cycad moving, How to treat Cycad seeds, Saving old Cycad seeds, A study on Bangalows (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana) in NZ, and much more.

You can get your copy of the magazine here

The website now has a shopping cart to make obtaining multiple mags much easier.

(I have just noticed that Lepidorrhachis is spelled wrong throughout the mag.)
