23C (73F) at the beginning of summer. The entire eastern Indian Ocean is much warmer than average. It could be another interesting cyclone season. I predict 26C (79F) by February. Let's see if I'm right. If so, we're going to have a humid 2012, and wet.

Cocoa Beach 70F 21C
Fort Pierce Inlet 66F. 19C

This is accompanied by air temperatures up to 80F, 27C.

I understand Sydney's beaches are having nightmare infestations of bluebottles (Portuguese man-of-war). Sounds just like Florida last summer, which brought plagues of mauve stingers and moon jellies.

Tyrone, it is the opposite in the eastern Pacific\ North America. La Nina cools the ocean though current readings are common for winter in southern California.

Ocean temperatures in Texas are plummeting with today's afternoon high only reaching the low to mid 50s all along the coast...

South Padre Island: 61*F
Galveston: 55*F

Next week looks a lot warmer for SPI, with highs in the mid 70s, and mid 60s for Galveston.

Temperatures of the ocean for California. For southern California i see 15C to 16C, 59 to 61 F.

This is little more warmer than normal, about 1C/2F.

californ.c.gif

Temperatures of the ocean for Baja California. Same thing, it is little more warmer than normal about 1C/2F in the north from Tijuana to 28 degrees north latitude (Punta Eugenia/Bahía Tortugas/Isla Cedros/Guerrero Negro).

South of 28 degrees north latitude the ocean is very much more warmer than normal. In Cabo San Lucas in january in most the winters it it 20-21C/, 68-70F, in the map it is now 23-24C, 73-75F.

The isoterm of 18C/64F in most the winters in january is by Bahía Magdalena, 24.5 degrees north. In this january, it is now at 28 degrees north.

The north part of the Mar de Cortez is also more warmer than normal in the north by 29-31 degrees north latitude. About 2C/4F more warmer than normal.

What is happening with la niña, it is gone ?

By here I dont see efects !

May be the ocean in the east pacific is to be normal in temperatures in this year, or more warmer than normal. This I hope after 2 very cold summers in th east pacific.

This is fresh January 7 imagery courtesy of Rutgers. Actual surf temperatures are all over the place, with Sebastian Inlet at a steady 72, but Ft Pierce Inlet reporting 58, perhaps from freshly-chilled water exiting from the Indian River.

Please note that the Atlantic is generally warmer nearshore than the Gulf. There seems to be a widespread misconception that Gulf beaches from Clearwater south have warmer water in winter than their Atlantic counterparts.

I think that the Gulf is cooler in winter, but warmer in summer because it is shallower than the Atlantic, and also because of the Gulf Stream. What's with the cold waters around biscayne bay?

25C here. The 26C line is up near Geraldton. If a cyclone formed now it could get interesting. Already had a small one come down to within 400km of us back in Jan. Been a humid summer this year and the garden reflects it.

21C (70F) here in mid winter in the SE Indian Ocean. About 2-3C warmer than average. This would have meant more than average rainfall, but the high pressure systems seem to be preventing that from happening. So far day time temps have been above average by about the same amount this winter, with the nights much the same although so far for July our nights have been below average due to the clear skies and dry air from the high pressure systems, but the days have been way above average with all the blue sky we're having.
