My Licuala pre-ati is doing something weird

What was known as Licuala pre-ati , I think is now called L. bifida -- which is appropriate since it has leaves that "are split in two".

My plants are about 10 years old now so they have been growing the mature bifid leaves for years....

... but the 2 latest leaves on thie Licuala pre-ati has gone back to being simple and undivided.

Is this a normal occurrence for this species?

I don't know about that species, but I had that happen on a young dypsis triangle seedling, going back from pinnate to bifid after I potted it up and greatly improved it's conditions.

It has since developed normal pinnate leaves again.

It is not dead, it is just senescence.
