Yesterday was a windy day in Guada La Habra. So windy that a big gust broke a leaf off Butch, my biggest Roystonea regia long, long before it was ready.

Yes, it was very windy yesterday!  Fortunately the onshore NW winds were blowing the falling Washingtonia robusta fronds from my neighbor's pair back into their yard and not mine.   When we have Santa Ana's they all end up in my yard or come down on top of my garage.  Fortunately nothing around me blew over with the ground being so saturated.  I saw that a pine tree blew over in Point Loma (looked like a big Torrey in the photo), hit a home and killed 2 people yesterday.  So Dave, count your blessings you weren't standing under Butch when he shed that big frond!

As Tracy stated, glad no one was injured by Butch.

Any other damage to plants or house?

Yes, I count my blessings. That part of the leaf weighed about 50 pounds without the crownshaft-thingy on it. Heavy. (Not my brother.)

Yikes! How did you do 2 weeks ago in the winds we had Dave? My Kings and Royal were blasted as we had 45-50mph gusts and 25-35 sustained winds
